I’m helping to plan for my 20th high school reunion. A group of us living
in the Metroplex have congregated several times in order to track down former
classmates. When we looked at our list, the task of locating everyone seemed
impossible! Where would we start? Who still lives in Hereford, TX? What about
contacting their parents? Our best idea was to place a list of the “missing”
in the local newspaper. We’re still waiting for responses. I passed the
list on to a friend who has lived in Hereford since graduation, and she spotted
51 “missing” classmates that could be easily be contacted. All it
took was getting the information into the right hands!
My goal this year is to increase membership in our Pharmacy Alumni Association.
In my job, I come in contact with a College of Pharmacy alumnus at least once
a week. I make it my duty to ask if they are a member of the Alumni Association.
If not, I send them an electronic application form. College alumni may not “come
across your desk” as often as they do mine, but you can do your part by
contacting some of your classmates or co-workers and encouraging them to join.
They are probably right under your nose, where you least expect them!
