Todd Canada Todd Canada, PharmD, BCNSP is a critical care clinical pharmacy specialist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and nutrition support team coordinator that participates in the care of patients in the ICU and those receiving specialized nutrition support, both inpatient and outpatient. He received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1988 and his PharmD from the University of Texas in 1993. He completed a specialized residency in Nutrition Support / Critical Care at the University of Tennessee-Memphis in 1994 and was board certified in nutrition support in 1995. He is an active member in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Maryam Bayat

Dr. Maryam Bayat received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Houston in 1990. Then she completed her doctor of pharmacy at Texas Southern University in 1994. She then completed an ASHP accredited Critical care Residency at The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical center in June 1995 in conjunction with Texas Southern University. She became Pharmacotherapy Board Certified in 1999.

Dr. Bayat is currently a Clinical Practice Specialist at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (UTMB) where she practices in the Medical Intensive Care unit and provides a rotational site for PharmD students/pharmacy practice residents. Before joining the UTMB Department of Pharmacy, Dr. Bayat was the Clinical Practice Specialist for Internal Medicine/Pain Management at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Bayat is the Clinical Coordinator for the Houston/Galveston region. She assists the regional director with the administration of the regional internship program, works to develop clinical practice sites, and serves as a resource to student pharmacist-interns during the internship, and recruits and serves as a resource to practitioner-faculty (preceptors) and practice sites.

Danial Metzen Dr. Daniel Metzen currently holds a Pharmacy Management position at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Metzen completed a Bachelor's Degree in Science and a Minor in Chemistry from Fort Hays State University in 1995 and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas in 1999. In 2001, he completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Currently, Dr. Metzen is in the process of completing his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Houston. He is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacists

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A PLACE TO LIVE

Parking Considerations

Parking can be difficult in the Medical Center as well as at UTMB. Some Medical Center hospitals have designated parking lots available for students with a shuttle bus. You can ride the campus shuttle bus if you have your medical center ID badge. Contract parking is available. Check with your preceptor for available parking options. At UTMB you will be eligible for student parking which is around $25/semester. Contract parking is available. Parking at the VA as well as the most of the other hospitals outside of the medical center and UTMB is free.


BASE CAMPUS/WHERE STUDENTS WILL GATHER FOR MEETINGS

Students will meet primarily at MD Anderson on the Texas Medical Center Campus or at UTMB in Galveston. Be prepared to travel to any of these facilities at any time.
