History 1980s
1980
The new Pharmacy Building addition included a Student Health Center pharmacy, a learning resource center, a nuclear pharmacy laboratory, and a television production laboratory.

1981
The Texas College and University System Coordinating Board cited the UT Doctor of Pharmacy program as one of the top three such programs in the U.S.

Texas' hot summers make this Centennial Fan a practical souvenir.
1982
The Generations Club was established to foster careers in pharmacy through continued parental generation pharmacists.

1983
During the observance of the University's Centennial, the College sponsored two symposia: "Pharmacy's Mandate for Excellence: the Opportunities and Challenges" and "Pharmacist: Responding to an Older America."

1984
A fund raising focus during the University's centennial observance saw creation of numerous endowments including a $1 million Johnson & Johnson Centennial Chair in Pharmacy.

1985
A new curriculum allowed students greater flexibility in choice of career-oriented electives. Early admission through the 1:4 program was a new feature in the revised curriculum.

1986
Pharmacy Administration brought national recognition to the College as it hosted the William S. Apple Memorial Program in Community Pharmacy Management.

Young Pharmacist Leadership Conference
1987
The College helped assure outstanding leadership for the profession's future when it was host for the first annual Young Pharmacist Leadership Conference.

1988
Exceptional undergraduate students were further challenged with implementation of the Honors Program.

1989
The College maintained an active role in the newly created Texas Pharmacy Congress which had been founded in the fall of 1988.
