It was a day to celebrate -- from small steps to great discoveries -- as student research took center focus of the sixth annual Celebrating Pharmacy Research Excellence Day on April 15.
More than 70 abstracts were submitted from Pharm.D. and graduate students as well as post doctoral scholars. Three among those were cited for special recognition.
In addition to the student research showcase, the day included two research lectures.
Dr. Julie Johnson, professor and chair of pharmacogenomics and translational research at the University of Florida, presented the keynote scientific lecture "Cardiovascular Pharmacogenomics: From DNA to the Clinic."
Johnson was followed by Dr. Rueben Gonzales, professor of pharmacology and toxicology, who presented the distinguished faculty seminar "Fatal Attraction: Neuropharmacological Insights into Alcohol Drinking Behavior."
