Barner Named APhA Fellow
Dr. Jamie Barner, professor of health outcomes and pharmacy practice, has been named a fellow by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).
Barner has served as a member of the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy for the past 14 years where she teaches health care systems, pharmacy services, pharmacoeconomics, research methods and data analysis. Her research includes investigations into medication therapy management, health outcomes and medication adherence. She has published more than 55 peer-reviewed papers.
She studied pharmacy, earning her B.S. from UT Austin and her Ph.D. from Purdue University. In addition, she worked in community pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, and managed care before moving into academia.
She had served in numerous leadership positions with APhA before being elected to fellow status by APhA's Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science. She was earlier named a fellow by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy's Academic Leadership Program.
