Brand elected APS Speaker
Athena Brand, P3 student, was elected Monday (March 12) as Speaker of the House of the American Pharmacists Association's Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP).
With her election, she joins the five-member executive committee of APhA-ASP, an organization that represents more than 30,000 student pharmacists from each of the 123 schools and colleges of pharmacy nationwide.
In addition to chairing the ASP House of Delegates in 2013, the Speaker of the House position works to uphold bylaws, vision, mission and goals of the student organization. She will chair the APhA-ASP Resolutions and Reference Committees and serve as an APhA-ASP delegate to the APhA House of Delegates.
"This accomplishment is an affirmation of Athena's abilities and the efforts she has made as a student pharmacist," said Dean Lynn Crismon. "It is also a positive reflection on the entire University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. I am certain that she will serve ASP and APhA with distinction."
During the meeting, she will also receive one of four national leadership awards sponsored by Procter & Gamble.
