Fred S. Brinkley Jr. of Austin, B.S. '61, has been appointed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry to serve as a member of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council.
Brinkley will serve as the pharmacist representative to the council. The council evaluates long-term local, regional and statewide health needs to develop workforce goals for health professionals. He is appointed for a term to expire Aug. 1, 2015.
The new appointee is a health care consultant and lecturer for the UT College of Pharmacy. He is a member of the Texas Pharmacy Association, American Pharmacists Association, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, American Society for Pharmacy Law, and Texas and American Societies of Health-System Pharmacists. In addition, he is a member and past chair of the UT College of Pharmacy Advisory Council, and a member and past president of the UT College of Pharmacy Alumni Association.
