Group Recognized for CLS Project

A team of third-year pharmacy students and their faculty mentor has been recognized at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) for an outstanding community service learning (CLS) project.

Dr. Veronica Young, clinical assistant professor of pharmacotherapy, directed the team, consisting of third-year students Eva Chugh, Amanda Fowler, Katie Lee and Sumon Sen.  Their project, "Interprofessional Collaboration Advancing Patient Safety Program: Needs Assessment for Community-Based Organization Serving Developmentally Disabled Adults" was one of only three projects recognized at the UTHSCSA Student Government Association Student Awards Night.

The recognition marks the first time that pharmacy student have received recognition at the Health Science Center Awards Ceremony.  More than 30 CLS projects were reviewed.

Their project also was chosen as one of three outstanding CSL projects at the 5th Annual CSL Conference hosted at the Health Science Center on April 5.
