Carmichael to Deliver Leonard Lecture
Dr. Jannet Carmichael, a pharmacy executive for the VA Sierra Pacific Network, will deliver the 2012-2013 Robert G. Leonard Memorial Lecture during activities at the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Annual Meeting in Austin.
She will discuss "Pharmacovigilance: Turning Data into Information on Health Analytic Dashboards" in the lecture scheduled for April 28.
Dr. Carmichael coordinates safe and effective use of medications as well as health informatics, pharmacoeconomic and pharmacoepidemiology programs using a clinical data warehouse and health analytics for the Veteran Integrated Service Network (VISN 21). The VA Sierra Pacific Network cares for 400,000 veterans in Northern Nevada, Northern California and Hawaii.
Her clinical practice includes primary care and outcomes studies, a program that received the ASHP's 2002 Best Practices in Health-System Pharmacy Award. She is pharmacy residency program director for a PGY2 program in managed care systems and pharmacoeconomics.
The annual lecture is co-sponsored by the UT College of Pharmacy and the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. It is named for Dr. Robert G. Leonard, who served on the college faculty from 1973 until his death in September 1981.
