College Teaching Awards
Teaching excellence takes center focus on Friday, April 19 as Pharmacy Council hosts the first event of a new tradition, the UT College of Pharmacy Teaching Awards Ceremony and Reception.
The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Texas Union Santa Rita Room and features the presentation of several new teaching recognitions including teaching excellence awards for years one through three of the Pharm.D., a graduate teaching assistant award, and a preceptor award for the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs). Pharmacy Council has created new criteria for each award.
Highlight of the evening's awards will be presentation of the first Distinguished Educator of the Year Award. The distinguished educator recipient will be selected from nominations from P4 students as the best instructor from their pharmacy education. The selection team will look for demonstration of student pharmacist learning, commitment to professional development and teaching, positive student-faculty interactions, and excellent communication skills. In addition, the faculty member selected for the honor should incorporate multiple learning styles in the classroom including lectures, presentations and support materials.
"I highly endorse these awards, as the recognition of outstanding teaching is critical to our college's successful achievement of its mission," said Dean Lynn Crismon.
