Career counseling is available in the Office of Student Affairs (PHR. 5.112).
Students are also strongly encouraged to seek additional information on professional electives and career opportunities from as many sources as possible in order to be well informed about the career choices that await them following graduation. Student professional organizations and fraternities, featured speakers at special College seminars, and faculty and practitioners who have pursued various career paths in pharmacy are an accessible and rich source of information and inspiration for students.
All students are provided information about career pathways in pharmacy, and participate in career pathway evaluation, through the Professional Development Convocation series of courses throughout the first three years of the pharmacy program. As a component of the course, students will complete an 18 hour shadowing experience in three pharmacy practice environments, the purpose of which is to expose students to pharmacy practice and career opportunities. Students will be asked to research pharmacy careers and make an initial choice of a career option in the form of a research paper.
