Endowed Presidential Scholarships

To be eligible to receive an Endowed Presidential Scholarship (minimum award of $2,500), students must meet the requirements outlined above and have maintained a 3.25 GPA in required pharmacy courses. Additionally, students must show evidence of active involvement in extracurricular activities. The following Endowed Presidential Scholarships have been established to benefit students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy:

Abbott Laboratories
Established by Abbott Laboratories, Inc., Abbott Park, Illinois.

Bergen Brunswig Corporation
Established by the Bergen Brunswig Corporation, Orange, California.

Bill, Mildred, and Chris Dismukes
Established by Bill and Mildred Dismukes of Austin, Texas for students with financial need.

James T. and Phyllis Doluisio
Established by faculty, staff, and friends of Dr. James T. Doluisio, who served as dean of the College of Pharmacy from 1973-1998.

Eckerd Corporation
Two scholarship endowments established by the Eckerd Corporation, Clearwater, Florida for students who wish to enter community pharmacy.

Tom and Beverly Gerding
Established by Dr. and Mrs. Tom Gerding of Georgetown, Texas for a student with financial need.

Fernando F. Gonzalez
Established by Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Gonzalez of Kingsville, Texas in memory of his late brother to benefit students from Falfurrias High School, Premont High School or nearby South Texas communities.

Alan and Nancy Hamm
Two scholarship endowments established by Alan and Nancy Hamm of Fort Worth, Texas with one scholarship placing preference on students from Birdville ISD or the Hurst Euless Bedford School District or Fort Worth.

Hoechst-Roussel/Howard B. Lassman
Established by Hoechst-Roussell Pharmaceuticals Inc., Somerville, New Jersey, and friends of the late Dr. Howard B. Lassman, former Director, Clinical Research/Clinical Pharmacology, Hoechst- Roussell, Pharmaceuticals Inc. to benefit students with an interest in pharmacology and related disciplines.

Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Texas Graduate Chapter
Established by the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Texas Graduate Chapter, to benefit students who are active members of Kappa Psi.

Paul and Margaret Kehrer
Established by Margaret Kehrer of Green Valley, Arizona, and her late husband to a student with financial need.

Frederick D. Klein
Established by The Merck Company Foundation, Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, in honor of Frederick Klein to benefit students in the final year of their degree program who have financial need.

Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Klinck, Jr.
Established by Mr. & Mrs. C.L. Klinck, Jr. of McAllen, Texas for a student with financial need.

Wm. Arlyn and Mary Carol Kloesel
Two scholarship endowments: one established by friends to honor former assistant dean Arlyn Kloesel and his wife; Mr. and Mrs. Kloesel established the second endowment for students with financial need.

Jim Koeller Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Pharmacy
Scholarship support for pharmacy student with preference given to students in their final year of the Doctor of Pharmacy who are residing in San Antonio.

The Peter John Layden and Willet T. Conklin
Established by John Roman Vacek of Dickinson, Texas in honor of Mr. Layden and Dr. Conklin.

Lee's Pharmacy and Medical Equipment Company
Established by Daniel D. Vela of McAllen, Texas to benefit students with a demonstrated interest in a career as an independent pharmacist and plans to practice in a town of less than one million in population.

Legends of Pharmacy Golf Tournament
Two scholarship endowments established by proceeds from the annual golf tournament, sponsored in part by the College of Pharmacy Alumni Association.

Medco Health Solutions
Established by Medco Containment Services, Inc., Montvale, New Jersey for students of pharmacy in their fifth year of study.

NACDS Foundation
Established by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation, Alexandria, Virginia, to benefit students with a demonstrated interest in a career as a community pharmacist.

Randalls
Established by the Randalls Corporation, Houston, Texas for a student with financial need.

Judith J. Saklad
Established by Dr. Steve Saklad, colleagues, and friends in honor of the late Judith J. Saklad, Pharm. D., a faculty member of the College of Pharmacy.

San Antonio Pharmacists
Established by pharmacists in the greater San Antonio area and the Bexar County Pharmaceutical Association.

Van M. Smith
Established by the Estate of Ina Ray Smith in memory of her father, Van M. Smith for a student on the Austin campus.

Baldomero Vela Sr.
Established by Baldomero Vela, Sr., Baldomero Vela, Jr. and Daniel D. Vela of McAllen, Texas.

Eugene L. and Judy Vykukal
Established by friends and colleagues in honor of Eugene and Judy Vykukal.

Neill and Beverly Walsdorf
Established by Neill and Beverly Walsdorf of San Antonio, Texas.

Harold N. and Dorothy B. Walsdorf Endowed Presidential Scholarship
Established in 2005 by Neill and Beverly Walsdorf to honor his parents this scholarship is awarded based on financial need.

Dr. Charles A. Walton
Established by friends and colleagues in honor of former associate dean Dr. Charles A. Walton.
