MAAPS Minutes- 2/1/07

 

I.               Welcome Back!

 

II.             One of our MAAPS members, Ivan, will be celebrating his birthday and a party is being thrown for him Saturday, February 3^rd at Campus Estates Apt. 1731.  The party starts around 9 pm.  Show up and have fun!  Address: 1300 Crossing Place, off of Riverside

III.           Elections

a.     Nick talked about the importance of creating a constitution for MAAPS to provide a reference and guide for future MAAPS

b.     a draft will be presented and we will vote for its implementation

c.     our new President elect is Karina Garza and our new VP elect is Roberto Guevara.  Congratulations to them both

 

IV.           Professional Development and Service

a.     Samaritan Health Ministries

                                                     i.     start volunteering again on Feb. 9^th and every other Monday from then on from 5-9

                                                     ii.     only two people needed per Monday

                                                     iii.     if you wish to volunteer but couldnπt talk to Megan at the end of the meeting, e-mail her at mlchilson@mail.utexas.edu

b.     Easter Seals

                                                     i.     Nick has talked to the organization and weπll keep you updated if a volunteer opportunity arises

c.     Feel free to let us know if you have any volunteer ideas!

 

V.             Pharmacy Phollies!! 

a.     this is a chance for the College of Pharmacy to show off our many talents

b.     it will be held March 30^th and we need people to come up with some acts

c.     Sarah will be going to all the classrooms to sign up those of you who are interested

 

VI.           Explore UT ≠ March 3rd

a.     need volunteers

b.     meet and greet at 10 for Co-Op students

c.     from 11:40-1:00 we need most volunteers here to talk to the students about our the curricula

d.     Greg needs some volunteers at 1 hour intervals to talk to guests about pharmacy pre-reqs, why you chose pharmacy, ect.  If youπre interested, a sign-up sheet will be posted on the MAAPS bulletin board next to the copy machine in the 2^nd floor

 

VII.         Fundraising

a.     Feb. 28^th from 12-1.  Support the organization!

IX.          SNPhA and African American Jeopardy ≠ Feb 12^th 2.108, 12-1
