I.       Roll Call - Please see attached attendance sheet

  1. Please remember that your presence and participation at the Pharmacy Council meetings this summer is required. You are oly excused if you let me know beforehand and if you will be out of town during the time of the meeting. Please send me (samange@mail.utexas.edu) an email if you will be unable to make a meeting (work is not an excuse). If the attendance sheet is incorrect in any way, pleae let me know so I can correct it.

    1. 2nd floor organization offices
      1. Clean out - They're a mess!!
      2. Organize - with large, clear plastic totes labeled with each organization's name and contents
      3. Relocate - better utilization and allocation of space
        1. new mailboxes for 2nd floor have been ordered as well as a new cabinet/credenza for all the pamphlets and magazines near the copier on the 2nd floor
        2. Grace attended PSAC meeting: discussed plans for the Student Activities Center, a huge building to be built in the middle of campus focusing on student life, with plans to build in the near future
        3. just FYI, we will not see tuition increases to fund the building project until after it has been completed and utilized
      4. Redo bulletin boards - ordering wooden lettering for organization name, after this takes place, it is very important that each organization update their bulletin boards for the new P1 class
    2. Student lounge cleanup schedule - if you or your organization needs a copy of this schedule, please let me know (samange@mail.utexas.edu) so I can get a copy to you. PC will be buying the cleaning supplies, which will be stored under the sink in the lounge. Clean-up will involve the countertops, sink, fridge, microwaves, etc.
    3. Organization meeting dates set - if you or your organzatin needs a copy of this schedule, please let me know (samange@mail.utexas.edu) so I can get a copy to you.
    4. Season tickets for football
      1. Flashcard section - Pharm. Students can all sit together for football tickets, we will split up P1, P2, and P3 students, each class comes up with a name for your group and beside the name write "flashcard" so we can be included in this section, seating in unlimited, but should be for Pharmacy students only, although you can still get guest passes if you need them
      2. Need coordinators: P1 coordinator: John Andrade and Kunal Patel, P2: Tiffany Shipper, P3: Jason Yeh
      3. To sit with the group, you must purchase the All Sports Package and get Football Season Tickets as well
    5. Blood safety DVD
      1. Possible dates: 09/15, 09/19 - decided on 09/05, all participants in organization events requiring contact with blood or bodily fluids (ex. Operation Diabetes) must take this class, including all new P1 students who would like to get involved in organizations.

    1. Task force to look at purpose of organizations - becuase there are so many organizations, this team will be looking at how the budget and school funding the right type of events, these will be compared with other pharmacy schools to look at what we're doing at a college level for acivities - if you are interested in being a part of this task force, please e-mail Frank for details.

    1. Code of Conduct - This document is extremely importat and will be signed by all entering pharmacy students from now on, it has been endorsed by Pharmacy Council and a final draft will be sent out to everyone soon.
    2. All student organization websites need to be updated and kept current (some have not been updated since 2002). Diane also needs all the meeting information for state/national meetings for your organization so that she can get teh budget information out.

    10. Welcome - have 93 members for the new P1 class, would like to get a few more volunteers, if you are intersted, please let Kunal know ASAP (you'll get a free t-shirt)
    11. Parents' Day
    12. NSO - the theme for the new P1s orientaion will be Western, with many chages implemented:
      1. new white coat ceremony during orientation week, more formal
      2. clubs and organizations given more time to discuss their purpose and other info with P1 students
      3. tents set up for all organizations to have booths and talk to P1s
      4. stretch breaks which can be sponsored by your organization (CPFI, SNPhA, NCPA) please get with John Andrade or Marybel Montemayor to discuss this.
    13. Pharmacy Month - chairs Jenny and Shirley have begun scheduling events throughout the month such as Dean's ice cream, a social, and workshops with the theme "Pharmacy at any age" including osteoporosis screening for the elderly, information booths for college students on eating disorders, STDs, drugs, steroids, and a workshop set up for children. Disease Awareness: talk of sponsoring a "bikini Week" with an information booth outside the gym to discuss the dangers of sun exposure, handling out sunscreen samples, etc.
