Pharmacy Council Committee Chairs
Applications for Pharmacy Council Committee Chairs are sent out on the last week of February and are due on the second week of March. Positions with willing candidates are filled based on each application essay after review from the Pharmacy Council Executive Committee. Committee Chairs will be announced at the next Pharmacy Council general meeting.

NOTE: All committee chairs will be REQUIRED to complete a post-event evaluation, checklist, and event report(s) provided by the Vice President of Pharmacy Council
New Student Orientation Committee (2 chairs) -- Elected in Jan/Feb
- Organize the events of New Student Orientation which take place during the first week of school
- Attend all events of NSO
- Appoint individuals as chairs of subcommittees for NSO
- Must reside in the Austin area during the summer, although it is up to the discretion of these NSO chairs whether committee members be in Austin or simply participate during NSO itself
Welcome Committee (2 chairs) – Elected in Jan/Feb
- Work with New Student Orientation Chairs to welcome the incoming students
- Match new students with current students as mentors and mentees
- Set up the incoming class's Google group
- Work with the first year fall faculty before school begins to adjust test dates
- Act as the college liaison through the Office of Admissions to conduct tours of the College if interested parties contact the College. This includes working to conduct tours with the Student Interviews Committee in the spring to give tours to students interviewing.
Fundraising Committee (2 chairs)
- Organize fundraising product purchases
- Organize volunteers for sales (Parents' Day, Alumni Weekend, CE, Orientation, etc.)
Pharmacy Month Committee (2 chairs)
- Organize the events throughout the month of October (events can include, but not limited to, guest speakers, health screenings, and social events.)
- Work with student organizations to coordinate month's activities.
Prospective Student Interview Committee (4 chairs)
- Staff hospitality lounge with current students who will also serve as tour guides
- Give a brief presentation about the College of Pharmacy to each interview group
- Sign up 2nd and 3rd year student volunteers to conduct joint interviews with faculty members and practitioners.
Faculty Relations Committee/Social Committee (2 chairs)
- Enhance faculty-student relationships by organizing events (such as fall/spring socials, breakfasts, lunches, thank you letters, coffees) designed to honor faculty and teaching assistants in the College
- Participate in Faculty Appreciation Week
- Serve on TETA committee for the College with Student Issues Committee
- Help organize the College-wide Annual Holiday Party (TETA award will be presented here) and Annual Spring Social (this includes tickets sales, catering, entertainment, etc.)
- Organize any other social events, such as Happy Hours or mixers to bring students together to socialize
Student Affairs Committee (1 chair)
- Voice and discuss student issues; follow through with issues until resolution
- Meet once a semester with the Dean to discuss planned and researched issues affecting the students within the college
- Select student members to faculty committees (admissions, curriculum, faculty-hiring)
- Serve on TETA committee
- Total membership will include at least 3 students from each class and the President and Vice President of Pharmacy Council
Explore UT (2 chairs)
- Organize volunteers, events, and projects during Explore UT (the first Saturday in March) for the community and prospective students to introduce them to the profession of pharmacy
Student Planner Committee (1 chair)
- Develop/modify student planner design to best optimize the features desired by the student body through the existing Google Calendar Template
- Assign/allow access for organization officers to update events onto their respective Google Calendar
Health Awareness Committee (2 chairs)
- Promote disease awareness to the college and university through monthly projects including, but not limited to guest lecturers, passing out ribbons to honor those living with a disease, or designating disease awareness days
- Head university-wide education program on dangers of sun exposure
- Coordinate the Health Awareness Program at the University Health Services
- Coordinate the Interprofessional Team Practice Event (Working with UT Nursing, SW, and CEC Brackenridge, and SSHP)
LPPA Liaison (1 position)
- Provide pertinent information to LPPA members at bimonthly meetings, such as volunteer opportunities at the college
- Coordinate E-mail Mentor Program between pharmacy and pre-pharmacy students
- Work in cooperation with LPPA to sponsor a Pharmacy Month event

IM Coordinator (1 position)
- Organize intramural sports as well as other sporting activities for faculty and students.

Interprofessional Liaison (1 chair)
- Attend Nursing, Public Health, and Social Work council meetings every month and report back relevant events to Pharmacy Council
- Work in cooperation with other councils to plan interprofessional events
- Be the main point of contact between the pharmacy school and other health professional schools
Philanthropy Committee (2 chairs)
- Work with the Development and Alumni Affairs office to increase student involvement in stewardship of gifts at the college and contact with alumni.
- Organize volunteers for monthly event of writing thank you notes to donors
Project Collaborate Chair (2 chairs)
- Lead the Project Collaborate Committee, which consists of two members (a junior and senior representative) from each of the twelve pharmacy student organizations.
- The Project Collaborate Committee is in charge of finding, organizing, and running College of Pharmacy led health screenings throughout the academic year. This consists of, but is not limited to: ensuring health screening schedule conflicts do not occur, filling out appropriate paperwork before and after each screening, recruiting TSBP certified pharmacist preceptors to supervise pharmacy students during health screenings, and making sure adequate screening supplies are available at each health screening event.
- Maintaining the Project Collaborate Website
- A minimum of three health screenings should be organized each semester.
- Applications for this position will be sent out in April.
- Applicants are required to have significant health screening experience (attended at least 3), be organized, have good communication skills, and have a passion for helping others.
Know Your Medicine (2 chairs)
- 1 chair must be assigned to the San Antonio region
- 1 chair must be assigned to the Austin, Dallas, or Houston regions
- Oversee medication review and follow-up call service events at their respective regions
- Work collaboratively with the other KYM Chair in tasks that advance distance site collaboration
- Create a 1 year vision for the upcoming school year and ensure that all committee members are on track with that vision
- Ensure that research and projects are on track with the 5 year vision of KYM
- Play an active role in the research associated with KYM
- Ensure that the region coordinators and project team leaders prepare tangible results that detail their work with KYM
