- Maggie Dinh is current Corresponding Secretary but we need one more to
help her with her duties, especially collecting reports for the national
meeting in Atlanta

- Preliminary competition on 11/2, time TBA
- Sign-up was passed around during meeting for those who wish to compete
or would like to be a committee member
- Local competition tentatively set for 11/21
- How competition works: Participants will receive a list of 10 drugs one
week prior to the event to prepare information for counseling. On the day
of the competition they will receive one prescription for one of those medications
and will be asked to counsel a patient (usually an LPPA member) in front
of a video camera. The tapes will then be judged and the top 10 will get
to participate in the local competition. 1st prize at Local - $200, 2nd
prize at Local - $150, 3rd prize at Local - $100 and the 1st prize winner
receives a stipend to attend and compete at national annual meeting in Atlanta.

- A Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP) is available – pays
for last 2 years of pharmacy school, get stipend of $235/month, pays for books/tuition,

- Your first assignment is in U.S.
- If sent overseas, you will be in well-protected “Green Zone”
- Commissioned Officer Training, which is not the same as Basic Training,
but is a 5-week course, class from 7:30am-4:30pm, free weekends, some physical
exercise
