Austin Police Department (APD) seeks the public’s assistance in an sexual assault

Date: Sunday, September 28th, 2008
Time: 7:35 a.m.
Location: 2500 block of Nueces Street

On Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Central West Area Command patrol officers were dispatched to an incident at the 2500 block of Nueces Street.

A female victim who was waiting in the area was approached by the suspect. When the victim was distracted, the suspect placed his hand under her clothing and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a:

Hispanic male
In his 20’s
6′0″ tall
Slightly heavy build
Short black hair, possibly combed back on top
Light complexion
Clean shaven
Clothing: Possible red polo style shirt; baggy light colored blue jeans; white sneakers

It is believed the suspect frequents the area around and near the UT campus adjacent to Guadalupe and West Campus and the Speedway area during the early morning hours. He typically approaches women who are alone waiting or walking in the area.

Sex Crimes Detectives are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect as the incident is under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident please call APD at 512-974-5095.

Theft Suspect

UTPD is currently investigating several thefts within the Law Library of Towns Hall.

The suspect is described as: white male, 30 to 40 years of age, 5′ 6″, thin build, short cropped light colored hair, wears wire rimmed glasses. The subject was last seen wearing a blue or black pea coat, jeans and was carrying a brown messenger bag.
