Experimental Science Building, 100 East 24th Street

Discovered on 9-25-02 at 4:35 a.m.

Graffiti: A blue wax crayon was used to write a 1' x 6" web address on the south wall of the building. Removal cost: $50.00.

Gregory Gymnasium, 2101 Speedway

Occurred on 9-25-02.

Theft: On 9-25-02 at 9:10 pm, a UT student loaded some musical instruments into a vehicle on the north side of the building. A black nylon Reunion trombone case containing an Edwards brass trombone was placed on the sidewalk leading to the loading dock. The student left the area, leaving the trombone and case behind. When he returned at 9:30 pm, the trombone and case had been stolen. Loss value: $300.00.

Kinsolving Dormitory, 2605 Whitis Avenue

Occurred on 9-25-02.

Burglary: Several food items and some earrings were stolen from a secured third floor dormitory room. Each earring had a white stone that was 1/4th inch in diameter mounted in a white metal setting. There was evidence someone has repeatedly entered the secured dormitory room between 9-1-02 and 9-25-02. Loss value: $35.00.

Living Learning Center D, 2610 Whitis Avenue

Occurred on 9-25-02 between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Theft: A dark blue DMX 21-speed bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack on the west side of the building while it was secured with a chain lock. The bicycle had a "Don't Mess With Texas" decal near the pedals. It also had a card with owner's name on the seat post support. Loss value: $185.00.

Parking Lot 25, 2500 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 9-25-02 between 8:05 a.m. and 1:25 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: Several scratches were made on the driver's side rear roof support column of a 1992 blue Nissan pickup truck. There have been three to four similar incidents since the fall of 2001 where someone has "keyed" (scratched the paint with the tip of a key) both sides of owner's car. This is the first incident since the car has been repainted in July 2002. Repair cost: $100.00.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred between 9-24-02 at 4:30 p.m. and 9-25-02 at 6:30 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: A thick nylon support webbing-strap was cut on a wooden bench that was in the telephone area by room 0212B. Repair cost: $20.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 9-24-02 between 11:40 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Theft: A green Roadmaster bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack on the northeast side of the building while it was secured with a large U lock. Loss value: $75.00.

Townes Hall, 727 East Dean Keeton

Occurred on 9-25-02 between 3:40 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Theft: A 2001 Dell laptop computer in a blue and black carrying case was stolen when it was left with a backpack in a third floor hallway. There was only one way in and out of the hallway, which was monitored by a receptionist. There were several interview rooms in the hallway that were being used by UT students, attorneys and invited representatives from local "firms." Loss value: $2000.00.
