Applied Computational Engineering and Sciences Building (ACES), 201 East 24th Street

Occurred on 9-27-02 between 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Theft: A black nylon laptop computer case was stolen when it was left on the floor of an unsecured sixth floor office. The case did not contain a computer but was weighted about the same as if it did because it was filled with paper files and a hand held recorder. During the time of the theft an unknown subject was seen loitering in the area. When a staff member asked the subject who he was looking for, he stated "Doug Wilson". When told no one by that name worked there, subject was seen leaving the area. Subject was described as a black male, late 20 's, 5'7", short hair, thin to medium build and was wearing a brown jacket. Loss value: $40.00.

Blanton Dormitory, 2500 University Avenue

Occurred on 10-1-02 at 1:40 a.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: UT Police received multiple complaints about a group of people making loud noises in the Blanton quadrangle. A group of six UT students were found in the quadrangle. Four of the UT students, under the age of twenty-one were found under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

Kinsolving Dormitory, 2605 Whitis Avenue

Occurred between 9-29-02 at 12:45 p.m. and 9-30-02 at 9:20 a.m.

Theft: A silver colored mountain bicycle (unknown brand) with black and yellow lettering and a red and black seat was stolen from the bicycle rack on the west side of the building while it was secured with a cable lock. Loss value: $80.00.

Parking Garage #2, 2420 San Antonio

Discovered on 9-30-02 at 9:58 p.m.

Graffiti: A gold paint marker was used to write a word on a machine room door on the northeast side of the building. Removal cost: $50.00.

Parking Lot #40, 2400 Red River

Occurred on 9-30-02 at 8:35 a.m.

Criminal Trespass: A UT Police guard observed a non-UT subject walking through the Parking Lot looking into cars. UT Police officers found the subject on the first floor of Sid Richardson Hall #3. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Robert A. Welch Hall, 105 East 24th Street

Occurred on 9-30-02 at 7:38 p.m.

Attempted Theft: A witness saw an unknown subject by the bicycle racks that are located between Welch and Painter Hall, with a pair of bolt cutters, about to cut a cable that secured a bicycle to the bicycle rack. When confronted by the witness the subject "fled" northbound between Gearing Hall and the Experimental Science Building. Subject was described as a black male, 6', thin build, dark complexion, with some facial hair. Subject was last seen wearing a brown hat, yellow t-shirt and blue overalls. Subject was carrying the bolt cutters in the overalls right pocket.
