Experimental Science Building, 100 East 24th Street

Occurred on 10-28-02 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Theft: A Dell Latitude laptop computer was stolen from a second floor lab. The laptop computer had been placed on top of a table at the beginning of a lab class. The only people in the lab during the class were the students and instructors. Loss value: $800.00.

Graduate School of Business, 100 West 21st Street

Occurred between 10-11-02 at 5:00 p.m. and 10-23-02 at 3:00 p.m.

Theft: Two textbooks were stolen from a secured locker that was located on the fifth floor. The textbooks were titled "Financial Accounting: An Introduction to Concepts, Method and Uses" and "Data Analysis and Decision Making with Microsoft Excel." Loss value: $200.00.

Jester Store, 2003 Speedway

Occurred on 10-28-02 at 11:20 a.m.

Theft: A staff member observed an unknown subject leave through the west entrance/exit of the store with 20 tan and orange baseball caps in his hands. Subject walked south along Speedway. While the staff member was outside the store watching him, the subject stopped, turned around, smiled and held up the baseball caps he was carrying. The staff member went back into the store and found out the subject had not paid for the baseball caps. When the staff member went back outside the subject was nowhere to be seen. Subject was described as a black male, 5'5", early to mid 40's, "salt and pepper hair" (dark hair sprinkled with grey and white hair) with a thin to medium build. Subject was wearing prescription glasses. Subject was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue shirt and blue jeans. Loss value: $280.00.

Parking Lot 67, 1900 Speedway

Occurred between 10-27-02 at 10:00 p.m. and 10-28-02 at 9:00 p.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The plastic passenger window was cut on a 1999 Jeep. An Alpine 7875 CD/Radio with a blue face was stolen from the dashboard. A black 2'x 1'air compressor pump and a black Logic CD case containing 200 CD's were stolen. Repair cost: 200.00. Loss value: $410.00.

Prather Hall Dormitory, 305 East 21st Street

Occurred between 10-27-02 at 3:30 p.m. and 10-28-02 at 7:30 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: The center wooden panel was broken out of a second floor men's restroom door that is located in Section J. Repair cost: $150.00.

Recreational Sports Center, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 10-28-02 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Theft: A metallic blue Victoriox backpack was stolen from an unsecured locker that was located in a first floor men's locker room. The backpack contained a Spanish book titled "Puntos de Pantido", a blue Samsung cellular telephone and a wallet that contained two credit cards. When the owner contacted the cellular telephone service and the credit card companies, he learned that an unknown subject had attempted to use the credit cards and had made a telephone call on the cellular telephone. Loss value: $200.00.

Recreational Sports Center, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 10-28-02 between 12:10 p.m. and 1:40 p.m.

Theft: A red JansSport backpack was stolen from a secured locker that was located in a first floor men's locker room. The owner stated that he had locked the locker with a Master combination lock and gave the lock a "tug test" to verify it was locked. The lock was also stolen. The backpack contained $5.00 cash, a biology textbook from the Life Science Library titled "Primate Adaption and Evolution", a pair of camouflage cargo pants, a blue long-sleeve UT shirt and a pair of Speedo swim goggles. Loss value: $205.00.

Recreational Sports Center, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 10-28-02 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Theft: A silver Eddie Bauer sports bag was stolen from an unsecured locker that was located in a first floor men's locker room. The bag contained a UT identification card, keys and a Billabong sweatshirt that was blue with red sleeves and a red hood. Loss value: $60.00.

Robert A. Welch Hall, 105 East 24th Street

Occurred on 10-16-02 between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Theft: A silver Specialized Rock Hopper bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack on the west side of the building. There was a small silver sticker on the front of the down tube that stated Bacquet Master Bike and Ski, Iowa City IA 3389401. Loss value: $400.00.
