Battle Hall, #1 West Mall

Occurred on 1-31-03 at 4:30 p.m.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found in a first floor area that was reserved for faculty, staff and students. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Blanton Dormitory, 2500 University

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 4:15 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: A rock was thrown through a 4-inch x 6-inch first floor dormitory window from the outside coming to a stop at the feet of the resident. Repair cost: $100.00.

E. P. Schoch Building, #6 East Mall

Discovered on 2-2-03 at 1:05 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: Two exterior 24-inch x 24-inch pane glass windows were broken in a mechanical room that is on the northeast side of the building. Repair cost: $200.00.

Frank C. Erwin Special Events Center, 1701 Red River

Occurred on 2-1-03 at 11:45 a.m.

Terroristic Threat: A UT student was standing outside the building in a ticket line that was to get a Longhorn Sports Package wristband. Subject was denied a wristband because it could not be verified he had a Longhorn Sports Package. Subject because angry and stated that he was going to blow up the building. Subject also stated that he was going to kill everyone in the ticket box office.

Frank C. Erwin Special Events Center, 1701 Red River

Occurred on 2-1-03 at 2:25 p.m.

Assault: An event center usher was admitting patrons to a UT women's basketball game at the southeast doors when an unknown subject forced his way into the building by pushing the usher's arm that allowed him to enter. Subject was last seen walking toward the west side of the area. Subject was described as white male, 50 years of age, 6'2", heavy set with gray hair. Subject was last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt with a blue design and blue jeans or slacks.

Gregory Gymnasium, 2101 Speedway

Occurred on 1-31-03 between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Theft: An ID case was stolen from a personal property cubicle that was located in a north aerobic room. The case contained assorted credit cards, identification cards and $20.00 cash.

Courtyard, Beauford H. Jester Center, 200 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 11:00 a.m.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found soliciting credit card applications in the corridor between Jester East and Beauford H. Jester Center West. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Beauford H. Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred between 8-13-02 and 2-1-03 at 1:30 a.m.

Harassing Communication: Multiple telephone calls have been made to a seventh floor dormitory room. The calls are received between 1:00 am and 3:00 am. The caller does not say anything but continually pushes numbers during the call. The resident was reminded to use the "Star 57" feature on her dormitory telephone, which would trace the call.

Beauford H. Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Reported on 2-3-03 at 5:12 a.m.

Criminal Trespass: An unidentified resident reported to the Housing/Food night supervisor an attempted illegal entry. An unknown subject was seen outside the south lobby entrance pulling on the doors. The same subject was seen 20-minutes later pulling on the west side ground level doors. When the subject was confronted he asked if Jester was a hospital. When told it was a female's dormitory entrance he smiled, rubbed his hands together and said he wanted to meet girls. When told he would be arrested if he tried to enter, he replied that he had been arrested four or five times "from here." Subject was described as a Hispanic male, with red eyes as if intoxicated (no other description). Subject was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants.

Parking Garage #1, 2401 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred between 1-30-03 at 9:15 a.m. and 1-31-03 at 5:20 p.m.

Leaving the Scene Collision: A brown 1993 Toyota Corolla was struck in the right rear quarter panel by an unknown vehicle that left the scene of the collision without leaving notice. Repair cost: $600.00.

Parking Garage #7, 1815 Trinity

Occurred on 2-1-03 at 5:35 p.m.

Assault with Bodily Injury (Two Counts) / Assist an Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was preparing to drive out of the parking garage when he stopped on level 5 to allow another vehicle to back out of a parking space. A second non-UT subject in a vehicle behind him began "honking and yelling." Subject #2 then got out of his vehicle and approached #1. Words were exchanged and then #2 slapped #1 in the face. Subject #1 exited his vehicle and then commenced to exchange blows with #2. Bystanders separated the combatants. Both subjects got back into their vehicles. Subject #1 drove to level 4 where he got out of his vehicle. When subject #2 drove up, he got out of his vehicle and blows were again exchanged resulting in facial bruising and back eyes being sustained by both parties. Bystanders separated combatants again. Subject #2 drove away from the area and Subject #1 waited for UT police. Subject #1 was found to have five outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for failure to appear on traffic citations.

Parking Lot 113, 2200 Comal Street

Occurred between 1-26-03 at 9:30 p.m. and 1-27-03 at 3:20 a.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The left exterior door handle lock was pried off of a 1996 green Chevrolet pickup truck that was parked in the north side of the Parking Lot. An MP3/CD player and two 2-inch speakers were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $300.00. Loss value: $200.00.

Perry-Castañeda Library, 101 East 21st Street

Occurred on 1-31-03 between 5:10 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Theft: A biology textbook was stolen from a sixth floor study cubicle when it was left unattended for approximately five minutes. Loss value: $75.00.

Peter T. Flawn Academic Center, #2 West Mall

Occurred on 2-3-03 at 12:30 p.m.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found on the third floor in an area that was reserved for faculty, staff and students. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Robert Lee Moore Hall, 2515 Speedway

Discovered on 2-2-03 at 11:32 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: The trim surrounding the drink dispenser slot of a Dasani water vending machine was damaged when it was pried on from the top and bottom with the aid of a metal bar. The bar had been lying on the ground and had once been used as a security device to cover the keyhole. Repair cost: $100.00.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred on 1-27-03 at 1:00 a.m.

Suspicious Activity: A resident fell asleep in a fifth floor study lounge in the south tower. When she woke up two unknown subjects were also in the study lounge. Both subjects were talking about gaining entry into a female's room and said the phrase "jump into bed with her." Based on the way they were talking, the resident believed they were planning to cause harm to the female. Subjects left the area approximately five minutes later. Both subjects were described as black males, approximately 6'2", 18 to 23 years of age, very thin build, approximately 190 pounds. Both were possibly wearing blue athletic jerseys and track pants.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred between 1-30-03 at 4:30 p.m. and 1-31-03 at 8:15 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: A 5-foot x 2 1/2-foot x 1/2-inch black marble tabletop and a chair in an unsecured first floor north tower student lounge were damaged. It appears several people lifted the entire table up and then slammed it down causing the top to fracture into three sections. A wooden chair next to the table had a broken leg and a broken back-support slat. Repair cost: $1,200.00.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-1-03 at 1:00 a.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: While exiting a first floor lobby elevator a UT police officer observed a female UT student under the age of twenty-one years of age stagger into the elevator car after being told to do so by a male UT student who was also under the age twenty-one years of age. The female could barely stand up because she was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and the male, who was not under the influence, was carrying a backpack that contained a bottle 2/3 full of Bacardi Rum. The male subject stated that he was taking her up to his room "so she could sleep off the effects of the alcohol" even though she lived in Jester Center West. Officers escorted her back to her dormitory room and released to her to a fellow resident.

Simkins Hall Dormitory, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 11:30 p.m.

Criminal Trespass: A UT student, who was banned from the dormitory due to illegal drug activity that occurred in October 2002, was seen standing outside the west doors. UT police could not locate the subject. The banned student was described as an Asian male, 18 years of age, 5'9", 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Subject was last seen wearing a yellow hat, unknown color of shirt and orange shorts.

South Mall

Occurred on 2-3-03 at 6:30 a.m.

Attempted Theft: A Navy ROTC cadet was assigned to guard several piles of Navy ROTC cadet equipment while the cadets went on a three-mile run. An unknown subject walked up to one of the piles, picked up a Navy ROTC sweatshirt and started to walk away. When the guard yelled "Hey" the subject yelled back "hey," dropped the sweatshirt and was last seen walking westbound toward Guadalupe. Subject was described as a white male, college age, 5'8", 140 to 150 pounds with a thin build. Subject was last seen wearing a white or light grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and was carrying a black backpack.

2200 Speedway

Discovered on 2-3-03 at 1:15 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: White chalk was used to write several words on the roadway. Removal cost: $100.00.

Student Health Center (Old), 107 West Dean Keeton

Occurred at various times since Christmas break.

Criminal Trespass: An unknown subject has been seen in the building after hours on the second, third and fourth floor in areas that he is not authorized to be in. He has been repeatedly seen in the building since the Christmas holidays at night and on weekends. Subject has keys to the building. Subject is getting on different computers and looking at Internet pornographic sites. When confronted, subject has stated that he is a teaching assistant with the Sociology Department but this has proven to be false. Subject is described as a black male, 20 years of age, 5'8", 160 pounds and is short in stature. Subject is clean-shaven and sometimes wears glasses.

T. S. Painter Hall, 103 West 24th Street

Occurred on 1-31-03 at 9:45 p.m.

Theft: A UT student was carrying her silver Motorola cellular telephone under her arm when she dropped it by two printers in a first floor computer lab. When she finished printing she went to a telephone in the room and dialed her cellular telephone number and heard it ring but could not find it. When she dialed the number again the telephone did not ring. It had been turned off. Loss value: $100.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred between 1-30-03 and 1-31-03 at 9:00 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: A 16-foot by 2-foot "Lucky Dog" banner was torn down from a north patio cover. Loss value: $250.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 2-1-03 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.

Graffiti: A red ink pen was used to write words on a wall in a second floor men's restroom. Removal cost: $10.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 2-1-03 between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Graffiti: A sharp instrument was used to carve two symbols into a plastic wall in a fourth floor men's restroom. Repair cost: $200.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 1:45 a.m.

False Report: An unknown subject signed up on a bowling list using the name "Nick" in the Underground. When his name was called he did not show up to claim the bowling lane. When he found out he missed his name being called he got angry, left through the east stairwell and set off a fire alarm pull station on the first floor. Subject then walked up to the building manager and claimed he saw who had pulled the fire alarm. Subject stated his name was Wayne Craft Barnes but then left because he stated he was in a hurry. Subject was last seen running out the south doors on level two toward Guadalupe. Subject was described as a white male, approximately 15 years of age, 6', 150 pounds with a thin build. Subject had long blond hair with black dyed streaks. Subject was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a white peace sign on the front and blue jeans.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 2:05 a.m.

Theft: During a fire alarm evacuation (later determined to be false alarm) two UT students stole a bowling pin from the Underground bowling alley. The bowling pin was recovered from outside of the building. Recovery value: $21.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 2:05 a.m.

Theft: During a fire alarm evacuation (later determined to be false alarm) two UT students stole a pair of bowling shoes from the Underground bowling alley. One of the students had turned in a pair of bowling shoes to get his UTID back but fail to turn in a second pair he had checked out under the same UTID. Both subjects were stopped approximately fifty yards from the building with the shoes. Recovery value: $20.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Discovered on 2-2-03 at 2:25 a.m.

Graffiti: Orange paint was used to write 18-inch by 12-inch gang-style markings on a wall in the northwest stairwell between the basement and first floor. The paint was still wet. Removal cost: $200.00.

2500 University

Occurred on 2-1-03 at 11:30 a.m.

Leaving the Scene Collision: A 1995 green BMW was traveling southbound when the right front quarter panel was struck by the left rear corner of a 1996 green Egil that was backing out of a parking space that resulted in a 3-foot scrape along the BMW. The driver of the Egil got out of the car and told the driver of the BMW that there was no damage and left the area without giving notice. Subject was described as a Middle Eastern male (no other description). Repair cost: $500.00.

Walter Webb Hall, 2500 Guadalupe

Discovered on 2-1-03 at 8:00 a.m.

Graffiti: Black spray paint and a black felt marker was used to write gang-style initials and symbols on two walls in the northwest dumpster and on an east door in the garage area. Removal cost: $200.00.

West Mall Fountain

Occurred on 1-31-03 at 12:45 p.m.

Indecent Exposure: An unknown subject was seen swimming nude in the fountain. Subject was described as a white male, 30 years of age with brown hair. Subject had numerous tattoos.

500 East 23rd Street

Occurred on 2-2-03 at 9:15 p.m.

Criminal Trespass / Assist an Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was found urinating in the bushes that were located on the median. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Subject was found to have an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on a public intoxication arrest.
