Ashbell Smith Hall Parking Garage, 201 West 7th Street

Occurred on 5-11-03 between 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Graffiti: Blue spray paint was used to write a word on the north exterior wall. Removal cost: $100.00.

Brazos Garage, 210 East Martin Luther King Blvd.

Occurred between 5-8-03 at 4:30 p.m. and 5-9-03 at 8:00 a.m.

Theft: Two yellow Davidson fiberglass ladders (6-foot and 8-foot) were stolen from a university vehicle while it was parked on the north side of the lower level. Both ladders had "Zone 4" painted on the top step. The ladders were secured to the pick-up truck's ladder rack with "bungee cords." Loss value: $200.00.

Centennial Park, 1620 Red River Street

Occurred on 5-9-03 at 4:45 p.m.

Solicitation / Criminal Trespass (2 counts): Two non-UT subjects were buying and selling tickets for the "Spring Fest" in violation of UT Regent's Rules and Regulations. Both subjects were issued written criminal trespass warning citations.

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Building, 200 East Dean Keeton Street

Occurred on 5-9-03 between 1:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Theft: A silver and black VPR-Matrix laptop computer and a black cloth Kensington laptop computer case containing a set of headphones were stolen out of an unsecured third floor laboratory. The laptop had been secured to a desktop with a cable. A UT-student was seen in the laboratory during the time of the theft. A subject matching the description of the UT-student had borrowed a pair of wire cutters from a basement level lab prior to the theft. The subject is described as a black male, 6'2" tall, short hair wearing shorts. Loss value: $2,720.00.

Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium, 707 Clyde Littlefield

Occurred on 5-9-03 between 10:15 a.m. and 10:25 a.m.

Theft: A black and gray Nokia cellular telephone was stolen from a bleacher seat on the east side of the stadium when the owner stood up to cheer during a track event. Loss value: $50.00.

Parking Lot 41, 2200 Red River

Occurred on 5-10-03 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Leaving the Scene Collision: A blue 2003 Kia Rio was struck in the left rear quarter panel while it was parked and unattended by a white 1997 Ford Contour. The striking vehicle left the scene without leaving notice. Repair cost: $300.00.

Parking Lot 103, 2100 Comal Street

Occurred between 5-7-03 at 8:20 p.m. and 5-9-03 at 5:20 a.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The right front window was broken out of a tan 1998 Toyota Corolla 4-door. A black faceplate to a Pioneer CD / radio, a black CD / radio remote control device, a radar detector and a radar detector power cord were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Loss value: $250.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred between 5-10-03 at 8:00 p.m. and 5-11-03 at 7:20 a.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The left front window was broken out of a white 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier 2-door. An AM / FM / CD stereo and a black Contact CD case containing 30 compact discs were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $300.00. Loss value: $200.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred between 5-6-03 and 5-10-03 at 12:15 p.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The tailgate and the right rear door of a tan and green 1988 Jeep Wrangler were found unsecured. A Sony Explode cassette / 6 CD changer stereo was stolen when it was pried from the dashboard. Repair cost: $200.00. Loss value: $400.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred between 5-4-03 at 7:00 p.m. and 5-11-03 at 3:45 p.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The right rear plastic window was cut on an orange 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The dashboard of the vehicle was damaged when someone attempted to pry the radio from the dashboard. The owner stated he leaves his vehicle doors unlocked so nobody would need to cut his soft-top to gain entry into the Jeep. Repair cost: $300.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred between 5-5-03 at 12 noon and 5-9-03 at 1:00 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: The trunk lock of a red 1995 Acura Integra was damaged when someone tried to pry it open while it was parked in the lot. Repair cost: $150.00.

Perry-Castañeda Library, 101 East 21st Street

Occurred on 5-9-03 between 10:55 p.m. and 11:05 p.m.

Theft: A blue cloth wallet containing assorted credit cards and identification cards was stolen out of a purse when it was left unattended for 10 minutes in a second floor information reference booth. A subject was seen walking by the booth twice prior to the theft. The subject is described as a Hispanic male approximately 20 years old, 5'6", wearing a black hat, black shirt and blue jeans. Loss value: $5.00.*

Occurred on 5-12-03 at 1:40 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A motorvehicle operated by a UT-student, under the age of 21, was stopped for multiple traffic violations and was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

Walter Webb Hall, 2500 Guadalupe

Occurred on 5-9-03 between 3:50 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.

Graffiti: White spray paint was used to write a word on the east exterior wall. Removal cost: $100.00.

2400 Whitis Avenue

Occurred on 5-11-03 between 12 midnight and 5:00 p.m.

Leaving the Scene Collision: A green 1997 Honda Accord 4-door was parked and unattended on the east curbline when it was struck in the front bumper by an unknown vehicle that left the scene without leaving notice. A street sign pole located next to the parked Honda was also knocked down. Repair cost: $1,200.00.

300 West 25th Street

Occurred between 5-10-03 at 11:00 p.m. and 5-11-03 at 2:30 a.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: An F-75 parking permit was stolen from an unsecured red 1993 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep did not have the "hard cover" installed. The permit was affixed to the windshield with "masking tape." Loss value: $5.00.
