E. William Doty Fine Arts Building, 2301 Trinity

Occurred on 8-22-03 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.

Attempted Burglary: Pry marks were found on a 1st floor office doorframe. Repair cost: $100.00.

Gregory Gymnasium, 2101 Speedway

Discovered on 8-21-03 at 9:30 p.m.

Attempted Burglary: An unknown object was used to pry the strike plate approximately one-half inch from the doorframe to a 2nd floor equipment supply room. Pry marks were also found around the door's lock. A metal latch to a laundry dryer and a brass curtain rod hook were found on the floor by the door. Repair cost: $100.00.

Gregory Gymnasium, 2101 Speedway

Occurred on 8-24-03 between 2:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Theft: A gray Jansport backpack containing a black leather wallet with various identification and credit cards, a book titled "Siddhartha," a Nokia cellular telephone model 8265, a Sony portable compact disc player and a combination lock were stolen from a locker that was secured with the combination lock inside a 2nd floor men's locker room. Loss value: $120.00.

300 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

Occurred on 8-24-03 at 3:15 a.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Driving While Intoxicated / Minor in Possession of Alcohol / Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle: A non-UT subject, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for several traffic violations. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated. Several cans of beer, both open and unopened were found inside the vehicle.

Parking Lot 39, 2300 Red River

Occurred on 8-24-03 between 5:45 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.

Theft: The right and the left black canvas doors to a dark green 1994 Jeep Wrangler were stolen from the vehicle while it was parked in the lot. Neither door was equipped with a lock. Loss value: $350.00.

Parking Lot 53, 2600 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 8-24-03 at 12 noon.

Assist Outside Agency: A Maroon 1995 Ford pick-up truck that was reported to the Austin Police Department as stolen on 8-12-03 was found parked and unattended.

Speedway and 24th Street

Discovered on 8-24-03 at 11:40 p.m.

Graffiti: A black permanent marker was used to write a word on a stop sign. Removal cost: $50.00.

2500 Speedway

Occurred on 8-24-03 between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Leaving the Scene Collision: A blue 1994 Mazda 626 4-door was parked and unattended when it was struck in the left front quarter panel and left front door by an unknown vehicle that left the scene without leaving notice. Repair cost: $1,500.00.

Student Health Center, 107 West Dean Keeton

Occurred on 8-23-03 between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Theft: A brown leather wallet containing various identification and credit cards and a key ring containing various keys were stolen from an unsecured 2nd floor office. Prior to canceling the credit cards, unauthorized charges in the amount of $515.78 were made at various off-campus retail stores.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred 8-22-03 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.

Graffiti: An unknown object was used to carve a letter of the alphabet on a door inside a 1st floor men's restroom. Repair cost: $75.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 8-24-03 between 3:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

Theft: Two white plastic bags containing several textbooks and two spiral notebooks were stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor room when the owner left the bags on one end of a table while she spoke with a subject at the other end of the table. Loss value: $420.00.

Walter Webb Hall, 2500 Guadalupe

Occurred between 8-23-03 at 3:00 p.m. and 8-24-03 at 7:00 a.m.

Graffiti: Red paint was used to write letters and draw symbols on the east exterior wall. Removal cost: $75.00.

West Mall Office Building, #3 West Mall

First incident occurred on 8-18-03 between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon, the second incident occurred on 8-22-03 between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon.

Theft (2 counts): In the first incident, $100.00 was stolen from a purse while it was left on a countertop in a 5th floor office. The owner originally believed the money was misplaced. In the second incident, $200.00 was stolen from the purse while it was left behind the 5th floor office counter.
