Engineering Teaching Center, 204 East Dean Keeton

Occurred on 4-26-04 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Theft: A "Rolling Rock Beer" custom mountain bicycle was stolen from the bicycle racks on the south side of the building, where it was secured with a cable lock. The bicycle was described as a 21 speed with 26" tires, bright green with white letters reading "Rolling Rock", a silhouette of a white horse on the crossbar, and dual shocks. Loss value: $200.00.

J. T. Patterson Laboratories Building, 2415 Speedway

Occurred between 4-23-04 at 8:00 a.m. and 4-26-04 at 10:30 a.m.

Theft: A blue Schwinn GSX-2000 bicycle was stolen from the bicycle racks on the west side of the building, where it was secured with a cable lock. The bicycle had two new Larsen tires. Loss value: $150.00.

Simkins Hall Dormitory, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred between 4-23-04 at 3:30 p.m. and 4-25-04 at 4:00 p.m. Reported on 4-26-04 at 11:05 p.m.

Theft: A red 18-speed Next Power Climber bicycle was stolen from the bicycle rack on the southwest side of the building, where the front tire was secured with a u-lock. The front tire of the bicycle was left at the scene, where it was still secured to the bicycle rack with the u-lock. Loss value: $25.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 4-26-04 between 4:00 p.m. and 4:20 p.m.

Theft: A black Jansport backpack was stolen from a 1st floor fast food restaurant while it was left unsecured on a dining table for "about three minutes" while the owner went to the restroom. The backpack contained Ralph Lauren prescription reading glasses and a Hewlett-Packard calculator. Loss value: $60.00.

Whitaker Fields, 51st Street and Guadalupe

Occurred on 4-26-04 between 1:13 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.

Graffiti: A black permanent marker was used to write words on a metal sign at the entrance to the archery range. Removal cost: $50.00.

2300 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 4-26-04 at 3:10 p.m.

Failure to Identify: While patrolling the area around Waller Creek, a UTPD officer noticed the distinct odor of marijuana. While investigating the smell, the officer found a UT employee under the bridge west of the Alumni Center. The subject ate a "filter-less cigarette" that he was smoking and drank some mouthwash when he saw the officer approach. When questioned by the officer, the subject refused to give his name.
