Arno Nowotny Building, 709 East Martin L. King Blvd.

Occurred between 2-4-05 at 6:45 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: An unidentified subject(s) forced the south main entrance door open causing damage to the door. At this time, it is unknown if anything was stolen from the building. Repair cost: $300.00.

Frank C. Erwin Special Events Center, 1701 Red River

Occurred on 2-5-05 at 5:10 p.m.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject entered the building during a men's basketball game without a ticket for the game. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Harry Ransom Center, 300 West 21st Street

Discovered on 2-7-05 at 4:45 a.m.

Graffiti: Green spray paint was used to write illegible words on a cement planter box located on the south side of the building. Removal cost: $40.00.

Beauford H. Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-5-05 at 2:23 a.m.

Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found in a 10th floor restroom while demonstrating an extreme involuntary physical reaction to the overconsumption of an alcoholic beverage. The student continued to display such a reaction the entire time the police officer spoke with them. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin EMS needed to transport them to a local emergency room for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.

Beauford H. Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-5-05 at 7:27 a.m.

Criminal Trespass: Two non-UT subjects were found lying down on couches in a 1st floor lobby area. The two subjects had previously been seen burning rolled-up newspapers at a bus stop located at 21st Street and Speedway. Both subjects were issued a written criminal trespass warning.

3600 Red River

Occurred on 2-6-05 at 2:32 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped for disregarding a stop light and speeding while driving a white Chevrolet sport utility vehicle. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

Roberts Hall Dormitory, 303 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-4-05 between 8:33 p.m. and 8:39 p.m.

Harassment: An unidentified subject placed two annoying and alarming telephone calls to a 2nd floor resident's cellular telephone.

George I. Sánchez Building, 1912 Speedway

Discovered on 2-4-05 at 1:30 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: White chalk was used to draw an image on the northwest exterior wall to stairwell #3. Removal cost: $20.00.

2000 Speedway

Occurred on 2-5-05 at 3:40 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated / Public Intoxication / Display of Another's Driver's License / Failure to Identify: While attempting to parallel park a 2000 Honda Civic, a UT student, who was under the age of 21, backed into the front bumper of a parked Honda Accord — not once, but twice. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated. A passenger inside the Honda Civic, a UT student who was also under the age of 21, was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was a physical endangerment to herself. The passenger presented a Texas driver's license that was issued to another person and purported herself to be 21 by giving the officer a fictitious date of birth.

2100 Speedway

Occurred on 2-6-05 at 3:45 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped for driving a 1999 Mazda 4-door with its headlamps turned off. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was driving while intoxicated.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 2-5-05 at 1:55 p.m.

Criminal Trespass / Evading: A non-UT subject was found sleeping in an armchair located in a 3rd floor lounge that is reserved for faculty, staff and students. The subject had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. During the interview, the subject fled the area on foot, exited the building and ran back and forth across several lanes of vehicular traffic before being apprehended.

Wooldridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street

Discovered on 2-7-05 at 2:00 a.m.

Graffiti: Black spray paint was used to write words and draw symbols on the exterior walls of a portable building located on the south side of Wooldridge Hall. Removal cost: $80.00.

200 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-6-05 at 1:40 a.m.

Failure to Stop and Render Aid / Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, walked into the path of on-coming vehicular traffic. A tire of a white 4-door vehicle struck the foot of the student. The driver of the vehicle left the scene. The student then "fell to the ground in pain" and continued to lie in the roadway until a police officer found him. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself. Austin EMS transported the student to a local emergency room for treatment to his foot.

200 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-6-05 at 12:30 a.m.

Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (3 counts): A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found having difficulty remaining conscious while lying on a bus stop bench. The female student was accompanied by 3 male UT students who were all under the age of 21. One of the four students made the statement that they had done some "pre-drinking" and were "headed down to 6th street." All four students were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. The female student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment of alcohol poisoning.

301 East 21st Street

Occurred on 2-4-05 between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Leaving the Scene Collision: A witness observed a red Ford Ranger pick-up truck strike the left rear bumper of a 2003 Toyota Highlander while the Highlander was legally parked on the side of the road. The driver of the Ford pick-up truck left the scene without leaving driver information on the vehicle that was struck. Repair cost: $200.00.

Noncriminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, UTPD responded to 23 alarm calls, 5 unsecured door reports, 1 welfare concern report, 1 suspicious activity report, 4 medical emergency calls, 1 collision report, 2 found property reports and 8 public assist calls between 2-4-05 and 2-7-05.
