Brackenridge Apartments, 3366 Lake Austin Blvd.

Occurred between 4-28-05 at 10:30 p.m. and 4-29-05 at 2:00 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: An unknown object was used to scratch an obscene word into the trunk of a black 2002 Honda Civic while it was parked by building 3366. Repair cost: $700.00.

Claudia Taylor Johnson Hall, 210 West 6th Street

Occurred on 4-30-05 at 2:15 a.m.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was found having difficulty standing and walking. The subject stated he was attempting to walk to his hotel, but was found stumbling in the opposite direction of the hotel. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself.

200 East Dean Keeton

Occurred on 5-1-05 at 4:05 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped for failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and disregarding a red light while driving a red BMW. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

Gregory Gymnasium, 2101 Speedway

Occurred on 5-1-05 between 11:00 a.m. and 11:59 a.m.

Theft: A black Nike nylon jacket and a blue-and-silver Samsung cellular telephone were stolen when they were left on the bleachers by the basketball courts on the 2nd floor as the owner played basketball. Loss value: $150.00.

Who is watching your property when you work out? If your property is unsecured, then chances are a thief is watching it. Never leave your property unsecured while you are working out.

Beauford H. Jester Center, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred on 4-29-05 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:05 p.m.

Theft: A clear plastic soap dispenser was stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor men's restroom. Loss value: $30.00.

Beauford H. Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred between 4-24-05 at 10:00 p.m. and 4-29-05 at 12:30 p.m.

Theft: A light-blue, Huffy-cruiser-style bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to a bicycle rack on the southwest side of the dormitory. Loss value: $150.00.

Main Building, #1 South Mall

Occurred on 4-30-05 at 10:25 p.m.

Criminal Trespass / Failure to Identify: A UT student entered the backstage of an outdoor concert without the proper credentials to do so. The student refused to leave the backstage area when requested to do so by the event staff. The student provided the responding police officer with a fictitious name and date of birth on three separate occasions.

O. Henry Hall, 601 Colorado

Occurred on 4-30-05 at 2:20 a.m.

Criminal Mischief / Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed three non-UT subjects walking by the building. One of the subjects kicked out a ground floor window on the west side of the building. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself. Repair cost: $175.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred between 4-29-05 at 9:00 p.m. and 4-30-05 at 12:30 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: A metal post near an entrance to the handicap parking area was "uprooted" from the ground. The post is used to hold a cable up to block the entrance to the lot during special events. Repair cost: $50.00.

J. T. Patterson Laboratories Building, 2415 Speedway

Occurred between 4-29-05 at 6:45 p.m. and 4-30-05 at 4:00 p.m.

Theft: An Epson Stylus Printer and a power cord were stolen from a 5th floor room. Loss value: $100.00.

2000 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred between 4-27-05 and 4-29-05.

Leaving the Scene Collision: An unidentified subject, driving an unknown vehicle, struck the rear end of a silver Ford F-150 pick-up truck while it was parked on the east side of the road. The driver of the striking vehicle left the scene without leaving driver information. Repair cost: $3,000.00.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred between 4-28-05 at 4:00 p.m. and 4-29-05 at 2:30 p.m.

Theft: Three 10" by 10" black plastic signs with brown lettering were stolen from three different levels of the southwest stairwell. Each sign advised the exit was on the ground level. Loss value: $300.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred on 5-1-05 between 1:45 a.m. and 2:15 a.m.

Theft: A purple Lennox hand-held AM/FM stereo was stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor room while the owner slept at the table the radio was on. Loss value: $6.00.

Sleeping in a public place not only puts your property in jeopardy, it is also a risk to your personal safety.

2300 Whitis Ave

Occurred on 5-1-05 at 2:25 a.m.

Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found lying down in a parking space. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself. While seated in a patrol car, the student demonstrated a severe involuntary physical reaction to the over-consumption of an alcoholic beverage.

300 East 21st Street

Occurred on 5-1-05 at 3:13 a.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A male UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found assisting a female UT student while walking towards Jester Center. Both students were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. The male student stated he was trying to help the female student to her Jester Center dormitory room. After the officer discovered the female student lived off campus, the male student advised he was trying to "sneak" the female into his dormitory room.

300 West 24th Street

Occurred on 4-30-05 at 4:00 a.m.

Driving Under the Influence by a Minor / Open Container in a Vehicle / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for driving a Jeep Cherokee at night without its headlamps turned on. The student was found have a detectable amount of alcohol in his system. A passenger of the vehicle, a UT student, who also was under the age of 21, was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. A plastic cup containing an alcoholic beverage was found in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

1800 South IH-35

Occurred on 5-1-05 at 6:30 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was stopped for operating a motor vehicle without a license plate, at night without its headlamps turned on, and running a red light. The subject was found to be under the influence of an intoxicant to the point he was driving while intoxicated. The subject was found to have two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for traffic violations.

3200 North IH-35

Occurred on 4-30-05 at 3:05 a.m.

Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer observed two non-UT subjects in a 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck engaging in exaggerated hand and arm movements towards each other. The vehicle was stopped for an assault investigation. It was determined the subjects were not engaged in an altercation. The driver was assisting the passenger with washing off a chemical residue that was sprayed on the passenger during an earlier altercation with unknown subjects at a local drinking establishment. The driver was found to have three outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for leaving the scene of a collision, driving while intoxicated and displaying a fictitious insurance document.

Noncriminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, UTPD responded to 21 alarm calls, 6 unsecured door reports, 9 suspicious activity reports, 1 welfare concern report, 1 vehicle fire report, 1 lighting survey, 10 public assists and 5 medical emergency calls between 4-29-05 and 5-01-05.
