Occurred on 8-12-05 at 5:15 PM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found camping on the east bank of Waller Creek. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

600 Congress

Occurred on 8-15-05 at 1:45 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped for speeding while driving a 1992 BMW 4-door with its headlamps turned off. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

300 West Dean Keeton

Occurred on 8-14-05 at 2:27 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated / Minor in Possession of Alcohol / Possession of a Fictitious Driver License: A non-UT subject, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way roadway. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated. An unopened bottle of wine and two unopened bottles of beer were found inside the vehicle. The subject was found to be in possession of two fictitious driver licenses which purported him to be 21 years old.

Occurred on 8-13-05 at 6:25 AM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found sleeping on a couch located in a 2nd floor hallway. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

200 West Martin Luther King

Occurred on 8-13-05 at 3:10 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped for operating his gold Nissan at nighttime with its headlamps turned off. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

2500 Nueces

Occurred on 8-14-05 at 4:50 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped for running a stop sign while driving a 2001 Honda 2-door. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

O. Henry Hall, 601 Colorado

Occurred on 8-14-05 at 3:00 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed stumbling as he attempted to commit a bodily function on the side of the building before he walked into the roadway. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

O. Henry Hall, 601 Colorado

Occurred on 8-14-05 at 11:30 PM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found sleeping on the south porch to the building. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Parking Lot 103, 2100 Comal

Discovered on 8-15-05 at 4:45 AM.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT police officer found the left window broken out of a 1994 Chevrolet pick-up truck while the vehicle was parked on the east side of the Parking Lot. The faceplate to the vehicles in-dash stereo system was missing. The owner of the vehicle could not be contacted. At this time, it is unknown if anything was stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Loss value: Unknown at this time.

Perry-Castañeda Library, 101 East 21st Street

Occurred on 8-13-05 at 2:00 PM.

Criminal Trespass: At the request of library staff, a non-UT subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and asked to leave the library.

2000 Robert Dedman

Occurred on 8-14-05 at 12:10 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped after driving on the left side of the roadway, traveling 20 MPH in a 30 MPH zone and driving straight from a turn only lane while operating a GMC Envoy. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

2500 Robert Dedman

Occurred on 8-12-05 at 2:15 PM.

Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was stopped for creating a disturbance by arguing with himself in a very loud manner. The subject directed his verbally abusive mannerisms toward the officers. The subject was found to have two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for public intoxication and one outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for consuming alcohol on a premises where prohibited.

2300 San Jacinto

Occurred on 8-13-05 at 12:50 AM.

Driving Under the Influence by a Minor / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 counts): A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for running a stop sign while driving a white 2002 Cadillac Escalade. The student was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages, but was not intoxicated to the point she was driving while intoxicated. Two passengers inside the vehicle, who were also UT students that were under the age of 21, were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred between 8-12-05 at 9:00 PM and 8-13-05 at 12:30 PM.

Theft: A black DVD case containing 5 DVDs and a Shinco portable DVD player with a 12.2 screen was stolen from an unsecured 4th floor office. The office had been locked by the office occupant, but was unlocked for the night to allow for the cleaning of the office carpets. Loss value: $600.00.

Crime Prevention Tip

Have you ever though of just how many people may have access to your property when you are away from it? In this case, the owner locked his office door when he left work one day not thinking other people who have legitimate business inside the office may leave the door unlocked. To better protect your property, secure such items in a lockable desk drawer or cabinet.

West Mall

Occurred on 8-12-05 at 10:46 PM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was found dragging an unconscious non-UT subject down the pedestrian mall. The unconscious subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin-Travis County EMS needed to transport the subject to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.

400 East 23rd Street

Occurred on 8-13-05 at 4:33 PM.

Failure To Identify: A non-UT subject was stopped for speeding while driving a white Mitsubishi Lancer. The subject provided the officer with a name and date of birth. The officers back-up officer arrived and recognized the subject as a person who he had stopped just minutes prior to the traffic stop. During the first stop, the subject gave the officer a different name and date of birth. It was determined that the subject gave a fictitious name and date of birth during the traffic stop because he believed his driver license was suspended.

500 West 24th Street

Occurred on 8-13-05 at 3:50 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped after stopping his 1999 Honda 4-door at two different flashing yellow traffic lights in what appeared to be an attempt to wait for the lights to turn green. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 20 alarm calls, 8 unsecured door reports, 4 suspicious activity reports, 3 medical emergency calls and 10 calls for service between 8-12-05 and 8-15-05.
