Crime Prevention Tip:
any people believe that if they are close to their property, then there is little chance that it will be stolen. As you can see, this is not the case. Thieves need just a second or two to walk by your property and pick it up. In this case, the owner, while in close proximity to the property, was talking on the telephone on the outside of the building while the property was unattended just inside the buildings doors. In this scenario, you can imagine how difficult it would be to keep an eye on your property. Never leave your property unattended. Also, you should mark your property as yours. You can borrow an electric engraver from the UT police department to mark your property. UTPD recommend you mark your property with your state issued driver license number or state issued identification card number. By marking your property as yours, you will increase the ability of the police to locate, identify and return your property if it is stolen.
