1900 Brazos

Occurred on 10-01-05 at 4:50 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped for running a stop sign while driving a white Jeep Cherokee. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was driving while intoxicated.

600 Colorado

Occurred on 10-02-05 at 2:00 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed swaying, staggering and falling down near the roadway. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was a physical endangerment to herself and others.

2000 Guadalupe

Occurred on 10-01-05 at 3:00 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was found passed out on the sidewalk. The subject was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

J.J. Pickle Research Campus, 10100 Burnet Road

Occurred on 9-30-05 at 1:05 PM.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT staff member exited building #25 to observe a male subject loading a Sthil weed eater into a van. The staff member approached the pick-up truck he had been driving and discovered the Sthil weed eater he had placed in the bed of the pick-up truck had been stolen. Loss value: $140.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred on 9-30-05 at 10:51 PM.

Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer located a silver colored 1996 Honda Accord that had been reported as being stolen earlier in the day from the Austin area. Two vehicle stereos were found on the passenger front floorboard of the vehicle. Recovery value: $2,000.00.

Perry-Castañeda Library, 101 East 21st Street

Occurred on 9-30-05 between 9:20 PM and 9:30 PM.

Theft: A purple colored bi-fold wallet containing identification cards and a debit card was stolen when it was left on a 3rd floor table for approximately 10 minutes. The owner advised a suspicious person was loitering around the area when she left her wallet on the table. The person was described as a white male in his late 30s, with light brown hair, with a medium build wearing a dark blue t-shirt and a blue baseball cap. Loss value: $15.00.

San Antonio Garage, 2420 San Antonio Street

Discovered on 10-01-05 at 11:00 PM.

Graffiti: A white indelible marker was used to write words on a metal utility box located on the northwest side of the ground floor of the garage. Removal cost: $35.00.

1900 San Jacinto

Occurred on 10-01-05 at 1:45 AM.

Possession of Alcohol by a Minor / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 counts): A blue Oldsmobile 4-door was found blocking the service drive to the swim center. Two bottles of an alcoholic beverage were found inside the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle, a UT student approached the officer to claim the vehicle and stated a friend of hers, who was also a UT student, was having an extreme involuntary physical reaction to the over-consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a near-by planter box. Both student were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

1900 San Jacinto

Occurred on 9-30-05 at 5:47 PM.

Public Intoxication / Criminal Mischief (8 counts): A non-UT subject was observed swaying, stumbling and waving his hands in his own face while walking on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of San Jacinto. The subject stated he had taken 100 hits of acid and was way out there. While speaking with the subject, a witness called the UT police dispatcher and advised a person matching the subjects description had been scratching parked vehicles in the 1900 block of San Jacinto. An investigation revealed the subject had scratched the Roman numeral three into the paint of 8 different vehicles in the 1900 block of San Jacinto. Repair cost: $3,200.00.

2600 San Jacinto

Occurred on 10-1-05 at 1:45 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: Two UT students, one of which was under the age of 21, were found horseplaying by the roadway. The student who was under the age of 21 was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred between 9-25-05 and 9-26-05.

Assault by Threat: A 4th floor resident advised his roommate has threatened to cut him while brandishing a pocket knife on several occasions. The roommate, who does own two pocket knives, stated the allegation was not true.

Occurred on 10-01-05 at 9:06 PM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (3 counts): A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was reported as being passed out inside a 4th floor dormitory room. Two other UT students, who were also under the age of 21, were attending to the passed out student. All three were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. The student who was passed out was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin-Travis County Medical Emergency Services needed to transport the student to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.

Sanchez Building, 1912 Speedway

Occurred on 9-28-05 between 3:00 PM and 3:20 PM.

Theft: An Audiovox brand cell phone was stolen when it was left inside a 5th floor mens restroom. Loss value: $75.00.

2000 Speedway

Occurred on 10-2-05 at 4:30 AM.

Public Intoxication: A cab-driver flagged down a police officer and reported an intoxicated UT student who had thrown-up on himself and needed to use parked cars for support. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin-Travis County Medical Emergency Services needed to transport the student to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.

T.S. Painter Hall, 103 West 24th Street

Occurred on 9-30-05 between 11:00 AM and 11:10 AM.

Theft: A light blue colored leather purse containing various identification cards, credit cards and a set of keys was stolen after it was left on the west exterior side of the building. Loss value: $20.00.

300 East 21st Street

Occurred on 10-1-05 at 4:06 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was observed stumbling while she was walking. The student was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

400 East 26th Street

Occurred on 10-02-05 at 3:30 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was found staggering near the roadway while waving his hands at passing motorist and yelling obscenities. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

Crime Prevention Tip of the Day:

Several thefts form todays Campus Watch occurred because the property was inadvertently left in an unsecured location. Thieves visit the UT campus looking for an opportunity to present itself. This opportunity usually comes in the form of people being distracted and or leaving property unattended for as little as a few minutes. Be mindful of your property. Never leave your property unattended or unsecured.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 12 alarm calls, 4 unsecured door reports, 4 suspicious activity reports, 3 medical emergency reports, 1 motor vehicle collision, 1 welfare concern report and 10 public assist requests between 9-30-05 and 10-03-05.
