Gateway Apartments, 1618 West 6th Street

Occurred between 11-24-05 at 10:00 PM and 11-25-05 at 8:30 AM.

Criminal Mischief: The rear window of a Ford Taurus was broken out of the vehicle while it was parked by building 1618. No items were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $200.00.

Goldsmith Hall, #5 West Mall

Discovered on 11-25-05 at 4:44 AM.

Graffiti: A green marker was used to write a word on a hand rail located on the west side of the building. Removal cost: $35.00.

Jester Center East, 203 East 21st Street

Occurred between 11-22-05 at 10:00 AM and 11-27-05 at 1:09 PM.

Theft: The frame and front wheel of a black GT bicycle were stolen from a bicycle rack located on the northwest side of the dormitory. The rear wheel was still secured with a u-lock to the bicycle rack. The frame and front wheel had been secured to the bicycle rack with a cable lock. Loss value: $200.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

The best method of securing your bicycle is to use a u-lock and an independently locking cable lock to secure the front wheel and frame to a bicycle rack.

Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred between 11-23-05 at 5:00 PM and 11-27-05 at 1:00 PM.

Theft: An unknown brand bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a u-lock with an attached cable lock to a bicycle rack located on the west side of the building. Loss value: Undetermined at this point.

John A. & Katherine G. Jackson Geological Sciences Bldg, #10 East Mall

Discovered on 11-25-05 at 11:20 PM.

Graffiti: A gold marker and a purple marker were used to write words on a wall and a restroom fixture located inside a 2nd floor mens restroom.

Laboratory Theater Building, #10 East Mall

Discovered on 11-25-05 at 2:50 AM.

Graffiti: A white marker was used to write a word on the side of a waste container located on the east side of the building. Removal cost: $35.00.

Parking Lot F-27, 2600 Whitis

Discovered on 11-24-05 at 12:25 AM.

Graffiti: A silver paint pen was used to write words on the side of a trash can lid locate din the Parking Lot. Removal cost: $35.00.

San Antonio Garage, 2420 San Antonio

Occurred on 11-25-05 at 11:10 AM.

Assist Outside Agency: A white Mercedes that had previously been reported as stolen from an unknown Austin location was found parked on the first level of the garage. Recovery value: $35,000.

Wooldridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street

Discovered on 11-25-05 at 3:15 AM.

Graffiti: A white paint pen was used to write an illegible word on a street sign located on the northwest side of the building. Removal cost: $35.00.

2400 Guadalupe

Occurred on 11-27-05 at 2:17 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was stopped after swerving back and forth and running into a parked vehicle while attempting to operate a Trek bicycle. The subject was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

2400 Guadalupe

Occurred on 11-27-05 at 2:23 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated / Public Intoxication: A non UT subject was observed yelling obscenities out the passenger window of a 2000 Jeep while a second non-UT subject was driving the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated. The boisterous passenger was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself.

2000 San Jacinto

Occurred between 11-26-05 at 3:00 PM and 11-27-05 at 2:45 AM.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: The left rear window was broken out of a 1999 Ford Explorer while the vehicle was parked on the west side of the roadway. A pair of 14 speakers were stolen from the vehicle. Loss value: $800.00.

2300 San Jacinto

Occurred on 11-26-05 at 4:35 PM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was stopped while digging in several trashcans. The subject was found to have previously been issued written criminal trespass warnings.

2000 Speedway

Occurred on 11-28-05 at 1:22 AM.

Assist Outside Agency / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A non-UT subject was observed pushing a bicycle away from a set of bicycle racks while wearing a backpack with a pair of bolt cutters sticking out of the top. The subject was found to have an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for a parole violation. The subject was found to be in possession of a glass pipe containing burned marijuana residue. The authorized owner of the bicycle has not been determined.

Crime Prevention Tip:

This case truly illustrates the need to register your bicycle with UT Parking and Transportation Services. Had the bicycle in this case been register, the police officer could determine who the authorized owner was and file on the subject for theft. Bicycle registration is mandatory and its free. 2000 Speedway

Occurred on 11-23-05 at 8:27 PM.

Stalking: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT subject running from a second non-UT subject who was chasing the first with a cane. The second subject had been harassing the first subject in various locations around Austin for several days and at one point had assaulted the first subject.

200 West 21st Street

Occurred on 11-25-05 at 11:23 PM.

Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped after running a stop sign while driving a 1995 Isuzu 4-door. The subject was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages to the point she was driving while intoxicated.

200 West 21st Street

Occurred on 11-26-05 at 11:53 PM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed swaying and staggering while walking west on the sidewalk. The subject then crossed 21st Street and began to walk east bound a short distance. The subject then crossed 21st Street again and began to walk west bound. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

400 East 26th Street

Occurred on 11-27-05 at 1:23 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was found lying on top of a bicycle in the middle of the sidewalk. The subject was unable to stand on his own and was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

Occurred at various times.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 alarm calls, 13 unsecured doors, 8 suspicious activity calls and 3 collisions between 11-23-05 and 11-28-05.
