Union Building, #4 West Mall

The information was received on 11-28-05 at 10:00 AM.

Crime Information: A UT Police Investigator received information from a credible source who overheard a subject speaking with another subject about waiting for students in the Union Building to fall asleep so he could commit thefts from the sleeping students. The subject was described as a black male in his late 30s, 57 tall and 170 pounds.

Crime Prevention Tip:

Sleeping in public places makes you susceptible to criminals. Thieves know this - so should you.

Will C. Hogg Building, #2 East Mall

Occurred on 11-28-05 between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM.

Theft: A purple Roadmaster bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to a bicycle rack located on the east side of the building. Loss value: $100.00.

2300 San Jacinto

Occurred on 11-28-05 at 10:50 PM.

Criminal Mischief: Two UT students were observed by a 1993 black Mazda that was parked on the east side of the road. One of the students was kneeling by the front tire of the vehicle removing a vehicle wheel immobilizer that had been installed on the vehicle for unpaid parking citations. The vehicle wheel immobilizer was damaged in the unauthorized removal. Repair cost: undetermined at this time.

Crime Prevention Tip:

Removing a vehicle wheel immobilizer without having the proper tools and training can cause damage to your vehicle, the immobilizer, the roadway and worse yet can be dangerous. If you find your vehicle has been booted then call the proper authorities; on campus, that would be UT Parking and Transportation at 471-PARK. Better yet, refrain from parking illegally and avoid the boot altogether.

Campus Wide
