Brackenridge Apartments, 3463 Lake Austin Blvd

Occurred on 12-4-05 between 2:00 AM and 9:30 AM.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: The right front window was broken out of a 1992 Nissan 4-door while it was parked in a Parking Lot. A JVC AM / FM / CD stereo was stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Loss value: $200.00.

Occurred between 12-3-05 at 9:00 PM and 12-4-05 at 9:30 AM.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: The right front window was broken out of a blue 1998 Kia while it was parked in a Parking Lot. No items were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00.

Brackenridge Apartments, 3463 Lake Austin Blvd

Occurred between 12-3-05 at 3:00 PM and 12-4-05 at 8:30 AM.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: The right front window was broken out of a 1991 Toyota Previa van while it was parked in a Parking Lot. A stereo faceplate to a Panasonic stereo was stolen from the vehicle. The dashboard was damaged in an attempt to steal the stereo. Repair cost: $350.00. Loss value: $50.00.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: The right front window was broken out of a 1999 Mazda pick-up truck while it was parked in a Parking Lot. The owner of the vehicle could not be contacted. At this time, it is unknown if any items were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Loss value: unknown.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: The right front window was broken out of a 1991 Toyota 4-door while it was parked in a Parking Lot. The owner of the vehicle could not be contacted. At this time, it is unknown if any items were stolen from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Loss value: unknown.

Jester Center East, 203 East 21st Street

Occurred on 12-3-05 at 12:44 AM.

Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found lying outside of a 9th floor dormitory room. The student was not aware of his location and did not know where he had left his shoes. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others.

Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred on 12-4-05 at 2:20 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: Two UT students were observed assisting a third UT student up a flight of stairs located on the west side of the dormitory. The two assistants needed to hold the third student upright while the officer spoke with them. The student in need of assistance was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages to the point she was a physical endangerment to herself. The two assistants dropped the intoxicated student when she began to display a severe involuntary physical reaction to her over-consumption of an alcoholic beverage. One of the two assistants stated she is a daily reader of the Campus Watch and requested this report be omitted from todays watch oops, too late; my apologies.

Crime Prevention Tip:

I placed this entry into the Campus Watch to illustrate the importance of having sober friends around when youve been drinking. As shown in this case, a sober friend will not keep you from getting a citation, but it may keep you from going to jail. If the student in this case did not have sober buddies with her, she would have been arrested for public intoxication. More importantly, a sober buddy will keep you from getting injured or worse. Just be careful when selecting your sober buddy. If that person is squeamish around partially digested stomach contents, he or she may drop you as a friend literally.

Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street

Occurred on 12-4-05 at 3:47 AM.

Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT student was found in a 2nd floor room while in possession of a glass pipe containing burned marijuana residue and an overturned Frisbee with marijuana leaves and seeds.

Penick-Allison Tennis Center, 1701 Trinity

Occurred on 12-4-05 at 1:30 AM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found sleeping on the west side of the tennis center. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Recreational Sports Center, 2001 San Jacinto

Occurred between 11-22-05 at 4:30 PM and 11-25-05 at 10:00 PM.

Theft / Credit Card Abuse: A Visa check card was stolen from a wallet that was left inside an unsecured locker located inside the 1st floor mens locker room. Before the check card could be cancelled, a total of $141.00 in unauthorized charges were made on the check card at local stores.

San Antonio Garage, 2420 San Antonio

Discovered on: 12-4-05 at 3:50 PM.

Graffiti: Pink spray paint was used to write words on the west exterior wall of the garage. Removal cost: $50.00.

San Antonio Garage, 2420 San Antonio

Occurred on 12-5-05 between 1:30 AM and 4:20 AM.

Graffiti: White paint was used to write words on the glass elevator shaft located on the east side of the garage. Removal cost: $35.00.

Sutton Hall, 210 West 22nd Street

Occurred on 12-2-05 between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

Theft: The frame and rear wheel of a Trek 4500 bicycle was stolen while the front wheel of the bicycle was secured to a bicycle rack located on east side of the building. Loss value: $450.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

No doubt, there is another victim related to this case. Somewhere near this case, I am certain there is another bicycle that is missing a front wheel. This case illustrates the need to secure your front wheel and bicycle frame to a bicycle rack.

University Teaching Center, 105 West 21st Street

Occurred on 12-2-05 between 12 noon and 2:00 PM.

Theft: A black backpack containing an Apple iPod was stolen when it was left in an unsecured 1st floor hallway while the owner walked two blocks away to eat lunch. Loss value: $125.00.

Walter Webb Hall, 2500 Guadalupe

Discovered on 12-4-05 at 5:30 PM.

Graffiti: White paint was used to write words on the eats exterior wall of the building. Removal cost: $50.00.

Whitaker Fields, 51st and Guadalupe

Occurred on 12-3-05 at 11:19 AM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject refused to leave the fields while he was training his dog. The subject was issue a written criminal trespass warning.

200 East 21st Street

Occurred on 12-3-05 at 3:45 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a minor (2 counts): A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for disregarding a stop sign while driving a 1995 Honda 2-door. Two passengers inside the vehicle, who were also UT students and under the age of 21, were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

100 West 21st Street

Occurred on 12-5-05 at 2:30 AM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found entering several bicycle racks and pulling on bicycles while looking at them. The subject stated he was shopping for a bicycle. When asked what he meant, the subject stated he could not afford a bicycle, and was looking at different makes and models to determine what he would look for when he went to purchase one at a pawn shop. The subject was in possession of a BB rifle he claimed he had just purchased at a store. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

300 West 21st Street

Occurred on 12-3-05 at 1:33 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject, who was under the age of 21, was found passed out on a pedestrian plaza. When awakened, the subject began to experience an extreme involuntary physical reaction to the over consumption of an alcoholic beverage. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin-Travis County EMS needed to transport the subject to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.

Discovered on 12-5-05 at 1:34 AM.

Graffiti: A black permanent marker was used to write words on the east side of an abandoned building. Removal cost: $50.00.

2000 San Jacinto

Occurred on 12-4-05 at 12:34 AM.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for running a stop sign while driving a blue BMW 4-door. The student was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages, but not to the point she was driving while intoxicated.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 alarm calls, 5 unsecured door, 3 suspicious activity calls, 1 medical emergency, 1 welfare concern report, 1 light survey and 9 requests for service between 12-02-05 and 12-05-05.
