Crime prevention Tip:
In my experience, I can assure you that many thieves will walk around buildings during business hours to look for opportunities to commit a theft. If they are confronted by an employee of that building they will give any number of excuses for being there like looking for an employee or a restroom or to make a deliver or do repair work. Keep this in mind the next time someone tells you their intentions. Offer to walk them to the office or restroom they are looking for or to see the delivery invoice or repair work order so you can help them. You may be surprised to see how quickly some people change their minds and need to leave.
Wooldridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street

Theft: A Trek seat and seat post were stolen from a Trek bicycle while the bicycle was secured to a bicycle rack located on the south side of the building. Loss value: $47.00.
Crime Prevention Tip:
Another good reason for using both a u-lock and a cable lock to secure your bicycle is illustrated in this case. While both types of locks should be used to secure the frame and front wheel to a bicycle rack, the cable lock can be threaded through your rear wheel, helmet strap and bicycle seat to prevent someone from stealing bicycle parts off of your bike.

The subject was also found to have an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for the possession of marijuana.
