Anna Hiss Gym, 2501 Wichita

Occurred on 02-24-06 at 7:10 PM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was reported as throwing rocks at an archery target located on the 1st floor of the building. When staff members asked the subject to leave, he began to ask questions about one of the gym staff members. The subject was later located loitering on a bench inside Burdine Hall. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Frank C. Erwin Special Events Center, 1701 Red River

Occurred on 02-25-06 at 10:29 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was reported as causing a disturbance during the taping of the ESPN Gameday television show. The student was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

Frank C. Erwin Special Events Center, 1701 Red River

Occurred on 02-25-06 at 8:53 PM.

Assault by Contact / Public Intoxication / Resisting Arrest: A UT student attempted to enter a ticketed basketball game without a ticket. After an event staff member told the student he could not enter, the student left the doorway for a brief period then returned and attempted to force his way into the building by pushing the event staff member. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself and others. The student refused to follow police officers directions and needed to be physically restrained.

Living Learning Center, 2610 Whitis

Occurred on 02-24-06 at 2:00 AM.

Harassment: An unidentified subject placed two unwanted and annoying telephone calls to a 2nd floor residents dormitory telephone and cell phone. The resident used the STAR 57 (*57) feature of her dormitory telephone to trap the telephone number of the caller.

Main Building, #1 South Mall

Occurred on 02-26-06 at 2:00 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found carrying a second UT student, who was also under the age of 21. Both subjects were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

Music & Bates Recital Hall, 2405 Trinity

Occurred on 02-24-06 between 9:00 AM and 12 noon.

Theft: A black wallet containing $20.00 in cash, three debit cards, three credit cards and various identification cards; including a social security card was stolen from an unsecured 5th floor room. Loss value: $30.00.

Parking Lot 108, 1500 Red River

Occurred on 02-25-06 between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: A Compaq Presario laptop computer was stolen form an unsecured television broadcast satellite truck while the owner took a dinner break. Loss value: $1,100.00.

Roberts Hall Dormitory, 303 East 21st Street

Occurred on 02-25-06 at 4:30 AM.

Public Intoxication: A UT Student, who was under the age of 21, was found attempting to use an insurance card to access the exterior door card reader. The students pants were unzipped and had evidence of the students inability to control her bodily functions. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin-Travis County EMS needed to transport her to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.

Sanchez Building, 1912 Speedway

Occurred between 01-10-06 and 02-08-06.

Theft: A Gateway 600XL laptop computer was stolen from a storage room located inside a 3rd floor office. Loss value: $1,900.00.

Sanchez Building, 1912 Speedway

Occurred on 02-24-06 between 1:25 PM and 1:30 PM.

Theft: A black Fossil wallet containing $25.00 cash, various identification cards, a credit card and a checkbook was stolen from a purse that was kept inside a desk drawer located inside a 3rd floor office. When the owner of the wallet returned from the restroom, she noticed the purse had been removed from her desk and was left on her chair. Loss value: $40.00.

Simkins Hall Dormitory, 2501 San Jacinto

Occurred between 02-24-06 at 3:30 PM and 02-25-06 at 1:30 PM.

Credit Card Abuse: An unidentified subject(s) stole a debit card and driver license from a 2nd floor residents wallet and made $300.00 worth of unauthorized transactions from the students bank account.

South Mall

Discovered on 02-27-06 at 5:50 AM.

Criminal Mischief: An unidentified subject(s) used yellow chalk to write words on the back of a statue. Removal cost: $20.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Occurred between 02-25-06 at 5:35 PM and 02-26-06 at 9:10 AM.

Criminal Mischief: An unknown subject(s) discharged the contents of a fire extinguisher inside a 2nd floor kitchen area. Repair cost: $1,000.00.

Union Building, #4 West Mall

Reported on 02-26-06 at 6:26 PM.

Criminal Mischief: An unidentified subject(s) entered a 3rd floor food storage area and spread food syrup, mayonnaise, cornmeal, dry pasta and rice around the floor of the storeroom. Repair cost: $100.00.

University Elementary School, 2200 East 6th Street

Occurred on 02-24-06 at 6:59 PM.

Consumption of Alcohol With-in 1,000 Feet of a School / Criminal Trespass: Two non-UT subjects were found loitering on the north side of the school grounds. Both subjects were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, both subjects were issued written criminal trespass warnings.

2400 Robert Dedman

Reported on 02-24-06 at 9:56 AM.

Criminal Mischief: An unknown object was sued to scratch the left side of a parked Buick Century on 01-28-06 and the right side of the same vehicle while it was parked in the area on 02-18-06. Repair cost: $300.00.

2400 San Antonio

Occurred on 02-27-06 at 2:24 AM.

Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed falling down on two occasions while carrying a pizza box. The subject stated he was body slamming the pizza box. The subject stated he was not sure how much he had to drink, as he stopped counting after his 4th beer. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself not to mention the defenseless pizza box.

2300 San Jacinto

Occurred on 02-25-06 at 2:35 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated / Leaving the Scene Collision: A UT police officer observed a green Geo Metro displaced onto a sidewalk from a parking space. A witness reported a grey Ford pick-up truck had just struck the parked Geo and fled the area without leaving driver information. A second police officer observed a grey Ford pick-up truck driving near-by on a flat tire. The driver of the truck drove a few blocks away and stopped in the middle of the road to check on his vehicle. That driver, a non-UT subject, was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated. Evidence in and on the pick-up truck showed it to be the truck involved in the collision.

2500 Whitis

Occurred on 02-26-06 at 1:30 AM.

Assault / Public Intoxication: A UT student reported another UT student walked up to him and punched him in the face for no apparent reason. Upon arrival, the police officer observed the suspect punching into the air. The suspect claimed to have taken shrooms and had dropped acid. Based on the odor emanating form the suspects breath, it was obvious he had also consumed alcoholic beverages. Based on his actions, it was obvious he was under the influence of alcohol and other substances to the point he was a danger to himself and others.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 24 alarm calls, 2 unsecured door reports, 5 medical emergency calls, 4 public assist requests, 1 accidental damage report, 2 light surveys and 3 suspicious activity reports between 02-24-06 and 02-27-06.
