Crime Prevention Tip:

If you know of a crime risk, such as the need to leave an area unsecured, then take preventative action by keeping your property with you, or by securing your property in a locker, lockable cabinet or desk drawer. To make your property less desirable to a thief and to aid in law enforcements ability to locate and identify your property if it is stolen, consider marking your property as yours by etching your state issued drivers license number on your property. UTPD will loan you an engraver free of charge. Contact the UTPD Crime Prevention Unit at 232-9634 to learn more about borrowing an engraver. This works! Yesterday, an i-pod was turned in as found property. The owner had etched his drivers license number on the i-pod and should be re-united with his property soon.
