Andrews Dormitory, 2401 Whitis

Discovered on 04-03-06 at 3:15 PM.

Harassment: A non-UT subject, who is a former acquaintance of a 2nd floor resident, entered the dormitory and left an unwanted and annoying note on the 2nd floor residents dorm room door after the resident advised the subject she no longer wanted him to contact her.

Burdine Hall, 2505 University

Occurred on 03-31-06 between 2:00 PM and 9:20 PM.

Theft: A grey and black backpack containing a Texas Instruments TI-89 calculator, a Sony Playstation game system with a clear plastic case, a gigabyte memory card and a Sony Playstation game was stolen from an unsecured 1st floor room. Loss value: $225.00.

Gregory Gym, 2101 Speedway

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 2:00 pM and 2:15 PM.

Theft: A black Eastpack backpack containing a Nokia cell phone, swim trunks, a set of keys and a black leather wallet with various credit and identification cards was stolen form an unsecured coin-operated locker located inside the 2nd floor weight room. Loss value: $120.00.

Gregory Gym, 2101 Speedway

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 9:30 PM and 10:15 PM.

Theft: A black Jansport backpack containing a Texas Instruments TI-82 calculator, a Motorola 1730 cell phone, a key ring and a wallet containing identification cards, a debit card and $61.00 cash was stolen form an unsecured coin-operated locker located inside a 2nd floor weight room. Loss value: $280.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

I dont know about y'all, but I'm getting tired of writing about these thefts. Invest a quarter to secure your valuables.

Jesse H. Jones Communication Center, 2504-C Whitis

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 8:41 AM and 10:40 AM.

Harassment: A non-UT subject, who works for a collection agency, placed five unwanted and harassing telephone calls to a UT staff members 3rd floor office after the staff member advised the caller to stop calling her work telephone.

Jester Center East, 203 East 21st Street

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 7:30 PM and 10:20 PM.

Burglary: A white gold ring with various semi-precious gems stones was stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor dormitory room while the owner was in a 3rd floor laundry room. Loss value: $1,000.00.

Parking Lot 115, 1600 East 20th Street

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 3:33 PM and 11:40 PM.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The left front window was broken out of a silver Pontiac Grand AM that was parked on the south side of the Parking Lot. The glove compartment box and center console were opened and its contents appeared to have been rummaged through. The owner of the vehicle could not be contacted. At this time, it is unknown if any items were stolen form the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00.

Parking Lot 115, 1600 East 20th Street

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 3:33 PM and 11:40 PM.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The left front window was broken out of a black Toyota Camry that was parked on the south side of the Parking Lot. There was damage to the dashboard radio console and the stereo appeared to have been stolen. The owner of the vehicle could not be contacted. Repair cost: $200.00. Loss value: Unknown at this time.

Parking Lot 115, 1600 East 20th Street

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 3:33 PM and 11:40 PM.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The left side window was broken out of a blue Mitsubishi 2-door while it was parked in the center of the Parking Lot. There was damage to the dashboard radio console. No items were stolen form the vehicle. Repair cost: $200.00.

Parking Lot 115, 1600 East 20th Street

Occurred on 04-03-06 between 3:33 Pm and 11:40 PM.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The left rear opera window was broken out of a blue Toyota 4-Runner that was parked in the center of the parking lot. An Apple iPod and an unknown brand detachable faceplate to a car stereo system was stolen form the vehicle. Loss value: $350.00. Repair cost: $100.00.

Patterson Labs, 2415 Speedway

Occurred since 03-22-06.

Harassment: A UT faculty member has received several e-mails from a non-UT subject which the professor regarded as threatening to his work e-mail account. The e-mails were in response to statements made during a lecture.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred between 03-06-06 at 2:00 AM and 03-24-06 at 1:00 PM.

Theft: A red Ozone bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a chain lock to a bicycle rack located on the southwest side of the dormitory. Loss value: $125.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

Thieves shy away from locks that are difficult to defeat or are too time consuming to defeat. Therefore, use a u-lock to secure your bicycle. For increased security, use two types of bicycle locks (u-lock and cable lock) to discourage a thief form taking your bicycle.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 7 alarm calls, 2 suspicious activity reports, 2 medical emergency calls, 1 unsecured door report and 5 requests for public assistance between 04-03-06 and 04-04-06.
