Recovered Stolen Property: The University of Texas Police Department's criminal investigators were able to develop a strong suspect in the theft cases from Gregory Gym. An arrest warrant was issued for a current UT student last week. This arrest led to the recovery of stolen property and the clearance of a number of cases. Additional charges are pending.
College of Petroleum Engineering, 200 East Dean Keeton
Occurred on 4-28-06, between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM.
Theft: A pink wallet, containing several personal identification cards, and several credit cards, was stolen from an unsecured 4th floor office. Loss value: Unknown at this time.
Colorado Apartments, 2501 Lake Austin Blvd.
Occurred between 4-26-06 at 4:00 PM and 4-28-06 at 5:30 PM.
Theft: A silver 18 speed mountain bicycle was stolen after being secured to a pole next to Building G with a cable lock. Loss value: $75.00.
Frank Erwin Center, 1701 Red River
Occurred on 4-28-06, at 10:30 PM.
Public Intoxication (2 Counts) / Resisting Arrest (1 Count): Two non-UT subjects were reported yelling profanities and disrupting other patrons that were watching the performance in section 81. Officers assigned to the event located the subjects and observed that both appeared to be intoxicated. Officers observed the following signs of intoxication: both had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on their person, each had watery glassy eyes, and slurred speech. Each subject was supporting the other to keep from falling. During the investigation, the subjects became argumentative with the officers and refused to leave the building. When being escorted out, one subject began flaying her arms back and forth and refused to comply with the officers commands. Both were transported to Central Booking.
Frank Erwin Center, 1701 Red River
Occurred on 4-28-06, at 11:00 PM.
Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject attempted to get on stage during the performance. UT staff removed the subject from the stage area and requested assistance from the UT police. During the investigation, the subject was combative and insulting to patrons walking by. Officers observed the following signs of intoxication: very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person, unsure balance, and slurred speech. Officers also discovered that the subject had a 2X8 oz. binocular flask around her neck that still contained a small amount of alcohol. Subject was transported to Central booking.
Gregory Gym, 2101 Speedway
Occurred on 4-29-06, between 6:20 PM and 6:35 PM.
Theft: A wallet, containing several credit cards, a Social Security card, and other personal identification cards, was stolen after being left unattended outside a racquetball court. Loss value: $20.00.
Goldsmith Hall, #5 West Mall
Occurred between 4-27-06 at 1:30 AM and 4-28-06 at 3:45 AM.
Theft: A wallet, containing two credit cards and $20.00, was stolen from an unsecured studio. Loss value: $ 30.00.
Jester East Dormitory, 203 East 21st Street
Occurred on 4-28-06, between 3:17 PM and 4:05 PM.
Theft: A pair of Levi's blue jeans and a brown shirt were stolen from a secured 9th floor laundry room. Loss value: $45.00.

Occurred on 4-30-06 between 2:02 AM and 3:17 AM.
Criminal Mischief / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT student was observed throwing a jar of grape jelly at the door of another resident. The reporting person stated that the UT student appeared to be intoxicated. The student fled to his room when UTPD was notified of the incident and refused to open his door when officers arrived. Approximately an hour later, officers were again summoned to the same room for a medical emergency after several subjects inside the room were believed to be intoxicated to the point that they were unresponsive. One subject initially refused to respond to stimulus and became verbally aggressive with the officer and EMS. While EMS was attempting to treat the subject, the officer observed in plain view a 3 foot filtering device by his bed. The device contained the odor of burnt marijuana. Subject declared that he was friends with Rick Perry and that he would "have fun getting some cops fired." In addition to other law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued a field release citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Jester Center West, 201 East 21st Street
Occurred on 4-29-06, between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
Theft: A UT student reported the theft of his laundry from a dryer located on the 9th floor. Loss value: $30.00.
Moore-Hill Dormitory, 214 East 21st Street
Occurred on 4-30-06, at 5:30 AM.
Public Intoxication: Officers responded to the south side of the dormitory on a report of a subject passed out on the steps. Upon arrival, officers recognized the subject from a prior alcohol incident. The subject was conscience and communicating with the officers. Austin EMS arrived and evaluated the subject, but did not transport the subject to a local hospital. Officers observed that the subject had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and blood shot eyes.
Parking Lot 104, 1900 Block Martin Luther King Blvd
Occurred on 4-30-06, between 1:30 AM and 6:04 PM.
Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The rear driver's side window was discovered broken out and laying on the rear seat of a Subaru Impreza. The owner identified a Blitz AM/FM/CD stereo stolen; along with $10.00 in cash from the locked glove compartment. Loss value: $110.00.
Simkins Dormitory, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd.
Occurred on 4-29-06, between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM.
Theft: A gray Marlin mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after securing the front tire to the rack with a U-shaped lock. The tire was still secured to the rack. Loss value: $150.00.
Union Building, #4 West Mall
Occurred on 4-29-06, between 8:00 PM and 11:30 PM.
Theft: A wireless microphone was stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor room after an Informal Ballroom class. Loss value: Unknown.
W. C. Hogg Building, #2 East Mall
Occurred on 4-27-06, at 8:00 PM.
Suspicious Person: A UT staff member reported that an unknown subject attempted to enter her office. When the subject saw the staff member, sitting at her desk, he turned and entered a near by stairwell and left the building. The subject is described as: Black male, 20-25 years of age, 5'7", 180 lbs, with a shaved head. No further description.
200 Block 6th Street
Occurred on 4-30-06, at 12:05 AM.
Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer observed a private security guard being assaulted by another subject with a belt and belt buckle. The subject then turned his attention to the UT officer when the officer approached to assist. The subject fled the area on foot and was caught a few blocks later. The UT officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and blood shot eyes. Officers determined that the subject was a danger to others and was transported to Central Booking.
1500 Block Red River
Occurred on 4-28-06, at 10:33 PM.
Public Intoxication / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was reported looking into vehicles parked in lot 108. The subject was located and officers observed the following signs of intoxication: strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, unsure balance, and glassy eyes. The subject stated that he had consumed 8 beers and was going to the Comedy Club. In addition to other law enforcement action, officers discovered an outstanding outside agency warrant issued out of Terry County for the subject. The subject was transported to Central Booking.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 alarm calls,15 unsecured door reports, 1 reported fire, 3 reported collisions, 5 medical emergencies, and 5 suspicious activities reports between 04-27-06 and 05-01-06.
