Property Engraving: Make Your Mark!

It’s now easier than ever to make your mark and prevent crime. You can prevent theft by marking your property with your driver’s license number or state-issued ID number, and UTPD is here to help.

UTPD has engraving machines available at the police department and in campus dormitories. You can borrow an engraver for three days at no charge and mark your laptop computers, CPUs, printers, power adapters/chargers, mp3 players, cameras, cell phones, USB drives, and more. We recommend marking items with your Texas driver’s license number, preferably in an obvious location. This makes your belongings less appealing to thieves and raises the chances of having your property returned to you if stolen.

Stop by the police department and request an engraver, or, if you live in a campus dorm, borrow an engraver from your dorm’s front desk. The check out procedure works the same as your dorm’s other property check out procedures.
