UTPD launches new Web site design
February 3, 2006
UTPD is proud to launch its new Web site and we want your feedback. Please browse the site and let us know what you think or what you would like to see.
Who done it
The redesign was a collaboration by UTPD and its parent department, Employee and Campus Services (ECS), and is the first redesign to go live since the formation of Technology Resources for Employee and Campus Services (TRECS). The process was begun in August of 2005 and will be maintained by the TRECS Web Team.
More in store
Though the initial launch is done, we have more work to do. In the coming months, we will reintroduce Campus Watch and its archives, develop an interactive map, add search abilities (added February 20), and evaluate more ways for you to use services online.
Technically speaking
The redesign upgrades the site to modern Web design practices and more closely follows UT Web Guidelines, including:
- Meeting or exceeding federal Web accessibility standards, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
- Incorporation of the UT Austin third-level template - maintaining a common header and footer across university pages.
- Extensive use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to control visual presentation of content.
