CHAPTER 7 - PERSONNEL - GENERAL
Sec. 7.18. Immigration Documents; Exchange-Visitor Program
- All immigration documents concerning members or prospective members of the faculty and staff requiring approval of The University must be routed to the International Office for preliminary processing as well as for final handling. This includes documents for the following types of non-citizens:
- 1. Full-time member of the staff appointed without limit.
- 2. Person coming in under the Exchange-Visitors Program.
- 3. Person coming in to participate in a conference or seminar.
- 4. Any other non-citizen being brought to The University for other than normal full-time study (which is covered under a separate section of the Immigration Act).
- The Director of the International Office should be contacted as soon as the individual being sought is identified. The International Office is familiar with the policies and procedures of The University and of the United States Department of State with reference to such persons. Not only can it be helpful in advising during preliminary negotiations but also it is authorized, at the proper time, to issue documents which will facilitate issuance of a visa by the appropriate United States Consulate or Embassy abroad.
- The University's Exchange-Visitor Program, administered by the Director of the International Office, takes advantage of legislation designed to facilitate the entry of non-citizens to the United States for educational purposes. Its use, where appropriate, benefits not only the international visitor but also The University.
