CHAPTER 7 - PERSONNEL - GENERAL

Sec. 7.24. University Sponsored and Operated Summer Camps

Summer athletic camps are recognized as an integral part of the activities of the Intercollegiate Athletic Departments. Such camps are a part of the Auxiliary Enterprise programs of The University and, as such, must pay all direct operating expenses, including salaries, from funds generated by the activity.

Full-time coaches on a 12-month appointment may be paid additional compensation for services rendered in connection with University sponsored and operated summer camps. Such payment shall be considered as part of the total compensation package for the coach and the amount of this compensation shall be recommended by the Athletic Director as part of the normal salary review process.

The following guidelines are to be adhered to in the operation of summer camps:

1. All summer camps must have prior approval of the appropriate Athletic Council and President of The University.

2. Budgets, including fee schedules, must be approved in advance by the appropriate Athletic Council, the Vice President for Business Affairs, and the Chancellor and the Board of Regents through the usual docket procedures.

3. Compensation may be paid to coaches only to the extent that net income permits after all other direct operating expenses have been paid.

4. Camps must be operated in accordance with all rules and regulations under the Constitutions and Bylaws of the Southwest Athletic Conference, the National Collegiate Athletics Association and The University of Texas at Austin.
