CHAPTER 3. FACULTY AND ACADEMICS

The University of Texas at Austin Policy Memorandum 3.201
Office of the President January 1, 1984 (Rev.)

Subject: "NO CLASS" DAYS AND FINAL EXAMINATION PERIODS

The faculty in establishing "no class" days to precede the final examination period acknowledged the problem involved in having a period of time devoted both to classes and to preparation for final examinations. This action of the faculty was intended to separate the class period from the final examination period; and the "no class" days therefore are not to be used as dates on which papers are to be turned in, examinations are to be given, quizzes are to be scheduled, or for any other class-related activity, other than office hours. In addition, the final examination period is reserved for scheduled final examinations. No other class-related activity, with the exception of office hours, may be scheduled during the final examination period.

"No class" days and final examination periods are listed in the official University calendar, which has been approved by the faculty, the administration, and the Board of Regents. No member of the faculty has the right to alter the calendar without the consent of all those who had approved it.
