CHAPTER 7. PERSONNEL - GENERAL
The University of Texas at Austin Policy Memorandum 7.201 Office of the President October 20, 1978Subject: SALARY RATES: INCREASES AND CHANGES
SALARY RATE INCREASE OF $2,000 OR MORE
A salary rate increase of $2,000 or more to an individual requires the approval of the Chancellor, UT System and the Board of Regents, provided, however, a salary rate increase resulting from an appointment to another classification or to a position involving new and different duties is subject to the approval of the Chancellor, UT System and subsequent reporting to the Board of Regents through the docket.
To expedite the processing of such a request, a letter giving a full statement of the reasons and explicit justification for the increase must accompany the request for appointment or request for change of status personnel form.
SALARY CHANGE AFTER REGENTS' APPROVAL OF THE BUDGET
If a salary rate is to be increased, the effective date of the change can be no earlier than the beginning of the month during which approval is given for the change. The budget rules and procedures (pink sheets which accompany the annual budget) describe the degree of approval necessary for different kinds of appointments and changes. Some changes require the advance approval of the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents.
Since the date of the last signature of approval on a change of status form will govern the earliest possible date for an increase to become effective, it is important that the initiating office submit the form in sufficient time for it to receive final approval at least during the month in which the change is to take effect.
