These part-time student academic positions are considered to be hourly paid positions, but appointment at the appropriate fractional percent of full-time (normally at increments of 5, 10, or 15 hours per week) may be made on a monthly salary basis, if desired, to eliminate the need for periodic payroll vouchers.

International students with J-1 and F-1 visas are limited to appointments of 20 hours per week during long session semesters.  International students may be appointed up to 40 hours a week during the summer commensurate with the level of assigned duties.

Appointment to a position designated security sensitive will be contingent on completion of a criminal background check (see Policy 7.E.2 “Criminal Background Checks” in the Revised Handbook of Operating Procedures.)
