The University of Texas at Austin

The University of Texas at Austin belongs to the people of Texas. I welcome you all--students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff members, and friends of The University. The UT community includes men and women from all 254 counties in Texas. We are a reflection of this state. Today we celebrate the diverse interests, endeavors, knowledge, and research that this university represents. And we invite all of you to interact with our multi-faceted world of discovery.

But you'd better hurry. There are 470 events--and only six hours in which to explore.

I have already had the opportunity to see the photographic odyssey of David Douglas Duncan, an amazing exhibit at the LBJ Library, and I recommend it. Yesterday I toured the Suida-Manning art collection on view at the Harry Ransom Center, and I know you will enjoy its Baroque and Renaissance treasures.

I've also been asked to be the test pilot of the first concrete canoe ride at the Gregory Gym pool--but I think I'll let some of you perform that service.

Welcome to UT Interactive. Make yourselves at home, discover something new, and have fun!
