Accreditation Visit Nov. 2-5, 1997

A visiting committee of 22 distinguished faculty members and administrators from around the country will be on The University of Texas at Austin campus Nov. 2 -5 in connection with accreditation of the University by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the University's overall accrediting body.
The University's accredited status is reevaluated every 10 years by SACS.
Part of the committee will also examine the University's athletics programs under the auspices of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Wayne Danielson, director of accreditation studies for the University, urged deans, department chairs, faculty members and students to be available during the Nov. 2-5 period for visits from the accreditors.
"Our visitors are on campus for only a few days," Danielson said, "and we want to be as helpful to them as we can be."
The visiting committee will be led by Joseph E. Johnson, president of the University of Tennessee.
The three accreditation reports that the committee members will
consider - Report on Compliance, Information Technology
and the Future of the University , and the Report on Athletics-
