IDEAL: Institute for the Development of Excellence in Assessment Leadership
Offered by ABET Inc. July 30 - August 3, 2007, Baltimore, MD

IDEAL provides a professional development opportunity for those responsible for leading their faculty in the development and implementation of a program assessment plan to improve student learning and document program effectiveness. This Institute will engage you in working with colleagues to develop new knowledge and skills that will enable you to be an effective assessment leader. When you leave the Institute, you will have completed an implementation plan you will be able use at your home institution. Topics covered in the workshop include: assessment principles; facilitation skills; and change management. For more detail, see the web site.

The leader for IDEAL is Gloria Rogers, Ph.D., Director of Research and Assessment, ABET, Inc., who has been active in disseminating information on assessment and institutional effectiveness for nearly 15 years.

 

SACS 2007 Quality Institute
July 22-25, 2007

The SACS 2007 Institute on Quality Enhancement and Accreditation will be held in Louisville, KY on July 22-25, 2007 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown. These Institutes are full of information about outcomes-based assessment, best practices, case studies, and a chance to network with others. Best Assessment Processes IX
April 13-14, 2007, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, IN

This symposium is the ninth of the Best Assessment Processes symposia and will provide opportunities to learn about assessment methods and how they can be used to validate and improve student learning outcomes. There is a great deal of assessment expertise currently available; this symposium will provide additional opportunities for participants to learn from each other. An intensive two days will be spent learning about a variety of assessment methods and processes. Concurrent sessions will feature 50-minute "how to" presentations. In addition, 80-minute and 3-hour workshops will provide both in-depth information and practice on a variety of assessment topics.

While the symposium is geared toward engineering, technology, computing, or applied science educators, it is really of value to any who are interested in learning more about assessment and its relationship to accreditation should attend. The symposium will be of particular benefit to deans, department heads, faculty, and assessment professionals. Institutional teams are encouraged. SACS 2006 Annual Meeting

The 2006 Annual Meeting is being held in the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, FL on December 9-12, 2006. The 2006 Assessment Institute
Offered by Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, October 29-31, 2006, The Westin Indianapolis, IN

This Institute is the nation's oldest and largest event focused exclusively on Outcomes Assessment in Higher Education and is designed to provide opportunities for: individuals and campus teams new to outcomes assessment to acquire foundation knowledge about the field; individuals who have worked as leaders in outcomes assessment to extend their knowledge and skills; and those interested in outcomes assessment at any level to establish networks that serve as sources of support and expertise beyond the dates of the Institute.

Faculty Workshop on Assessment Program Outcomes

Participants will sharpen their assessment knowledge, broaden their understanding of continuous improvement processes, and learn new assessment tools they can implement when they return to campus.
