Institutional Reporting, Research, and Information Systems provides data to inform the following external accountability systems:

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Accountability System (THECB) - used to track performance on critical measures that exemplify higher education institutions' missions. The System is modeled on the state's higher education plan, Closing the Gaps by 2015. Its major focus is on the four Closing the Gaps target areas of student participation, student success, national excellence and research.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's University Report Card - graphically presents pertinent institutional characteristics and measures of performance. Each Report Card contains information from the Coordinating Board’s Accountability System on:

  • Undergraduate student persistence and success
  • Enrollment breakouts by ethnicity/race, gender, age and level
  • Student costs and financial aid
  • Institutional revenues and research funding.


The University of Texas System Accountability Framework and Report - a comprehensive annual accountability and performance report for UT schools published by the University of Texas System Administration. The framework is based on a robust unit-record set of data in the UT System statistical fact book and online data resources, together with state-wide data sets collected by the THECB, and supplemental data provided by the individual campuses.

The Voluntary System of Accountability "College Portrait" - a voluntary initiative for 4-year public colleges and universities. Developed through a partnership between the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), the VSA is designed to help institutions demonstrate accountability and stewardship to the public, measure educational outcomes to identify effective educational practices, and assemble information that is accessible, understandable, and comparable.
