UTARC Employee Health Screening Program

ARC is required by NIH to maintain a program to monitor the health of our employees and researchers.

In order to comply, we require all employees to fill out a health related questionnaire and interview with an

in-house Occupational Health Nurse. The nurse takes their temperature and blood pressure, and discusses

information in the questionaire as well as the individual's relative health status.

ARC animal care personnel and researchers working with primates are required to obtain a negative TB test,

which is done at the Student Health Center at ARC expense, and a measles vaccination if they've never had

the disease. All personnel are encouraged to have a current tetanus vaccination, which would also be

provided at ARC expense if necessary.

Records of the health screening process are held in strict confidence, available only to the Occupational

Health Nurse. Information determined by the nurse to be pertinent to the ARC administration is forwarded

only with the approval of the employee or researcher.
