Elena McDonald-Buller Biographical Sketch Dr. Elena McDonald-Buller is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.  She currently oversees a research group at the Center for Energy and Environmental Resources at UT that conducts air quality studies to improve the fundamental understanding of chemical and physical processes in the atmosphere and to assist policy decisions in the State of Texas.

Her research interests include emissions inventory development, in particular the characterization of emissions from mobile sources, atmospheric chemistry, photochemical modeling, applications of satellite remote sensing data for air quality research, and urban and regional air quality issues, notably the impacts of urban development patterns on air quality and population exposure to pollution and intra- and inter- state transport of air pollutants. Dr. McDonald-Buller has served as Principal Investigator and collaborated on a variety of projects conducted for the U.S. EPA, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, local governments and planning organizations in Texas, Environmental Defense, ENVIRON International Corporation and Signature Science, LLC for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Dr. McDonald-Buller received her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University.  She received her M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from The Florida Institute of Technology, and her Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.  Dr. McDonald-Buller is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
